I put the low beams in the Envoy (it uses the same bulb as the Camaro) to try and get some better lighting, and both sides burned out in way less than a year [Frown] The PIAA's in the SS are fine, but I don't think they have as many miles on them.

Anyone else experience a short lifespan on the Sylvania's?

I have heard from a few different people that these things burn out relatively quickly, compared to the stock bulbs. I think they might draw a bit more power? [Confused]

Best I recall I held them with shop towels for the install ...

I wonder if our bitter cold spell could have affected them?

Update:

E-mailed Sylvania - they agreed the should last longer.

Took them back to Canadian Tire and they exchanged them without a squabble. I'll install them when I get a chance, taking super duper extra care NOT to touch the bulb, and see how long these last.

When I put mine in I kept them in the original wrapper using it to put into the socket.

That's good to know they replaced them without hassle. I have been wanting to put Silverstars in the Tahoe. The bulbs in the SS aren't Silverstars but the generic version so to speak and they have been in the car for nearly 3 years now without problem. I remember them being advertised as lasting longer than a regular halogen bulb.

Are the Sylvania Silverstars the blue tint bulbs? Or are they the clearer burning ones?
