Yeppers..the Dealer got my Cavy in alreday today, and called me. I took it for a test drive tonight as well. Actaully has quite a bit of pep too it! They have to clean it up and take all the plastic off of it and I will be trading in the SS probably Monday.
The Car is a 2004 Cavalier LS Sport Coupe, Black, Manual, Sunroof, CD/MP3 player, 16" Chrome 10-spoke wheels with Goodyear Eagle RSA 205/55R16 tires. ITs gonna look almost exactly like this, just a 2-door coupe instead:
P.S. Already have my first mod for it on its way, gas-filled hood struts so it opens automatically...cause I'll miss that from the SS

YEah, i konw it's the right thing to do....I REALLY wanna move out in the next year, and this is the only way possible...plus, i'm getting a brand new car!
I've already looked at a GM supercharger that bolts right up nicely for around $2k....down the road Not bad seeing that ones for our Camaros go for $4-5k! We'll see if I go that route down the road. If i do anything, the car will be a sleeper. NOOOOO ricey mods, wings, etc.

Dan, I have a Cavalier for my daily driver. Not as nice as yours, but it gets the job done.
The clutch in it is very soft. If I have been driving the SS for a while and I get in the Cavalier, I push that clutch like I'm going to smash it through the floor.
I'm getting tires put on it for what it cost for ONE tire for the SS.
Suprisingly, Cavaliers are kind of expensive to insure compared to other cars in their class.
I have 45,000 miles on my 2001 and no mechanical problems. The gas mileage is a plus too. You'll have to put up some pics after you get it.

Thanks for the info. Right now, I'm paying $3300 a year for the SS, and my Cavalier will from about $1200!! So its a big chunk. When I test drove it, I pretty much laughed wehn i first pushed in the clutch!! Wasn't sure if that's what I actually pushed in! SO, you're soo right about that, hah! I'll also look forward tot eh better gas mileage and filling up with regular...now if I can go back to getting used to filler her up on the oterh side of the car
Defintiely mucho pics to come!! I'm liking the black already. If they had it in the Pewter, I wouldn't ahve taken that, but after seeing all of your black SS's, I know it's the best 'shine for the buck'

J-bodies are decent cars. I have a '94, last of the old style. Just about to roll over 90k and aside from a head gasket, it has had no major work done to it. Of course, that is the old 2.0 motor... the Ecotec is leaps and bounds above it.
Oh and I'll tell ya something else, the backseat of the 2 door j bodies is not much bigger than the fcar, and really not all that much more condusive to 'dates'.

But if you're both sitting in the front seat, then why would you?..............oh.
Nevermind.

You will like that Cavalier LS Sport. That is the model that took over for the Z24. The chrome 10 spoke wheels look great too. Not a bad car for the money. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Congrats, Dan, and good luck with the new ride... last fall a co-worker bought exactly the same coupe as yours, and she loves it.
I thought about you the other day... I was catching up on by "backporch" reading on the laptop as I was flying back to Philly from Columbus when, at 25000 feet, the pilot said we were 75-100 miles from Philly. I looked out the window and saw the Susquehanna and an island with four nuke cooling towers, two steaming, and two NOT. I knew I was over Enola, more or less!

Shhh, dont tell her I posted this pic...she'd kill me!!!

Actually...I like the styling of the Cavalier better than the GTO...just doesn't have the motor, or the interior finish.

My sister is a Cavalier FREAK! She's got a black '01 coupe, and loves it! The one you're getting has wheels nearly the same looking as my Camaro. I think they look great! And even though they aren't as fast obviously, I'll bet they're really better all-around cars than a Camaro.

Hah! Nah, it's cool...eventually some day....
But I agree with yah...will definitely be a better all around car, and more practical. Did I make a mistake of selling my 1999 Z24 vert for the SS? Nah, look at all the great people I have met...or at least made online. Would'nt trade that for the world!
In the meantime...the party roll on.....

They got, turbos, big brake kits, body kits, superchargers, roll cages, exhaust systems, interior stuff. That car has TONS of potential. And the GM Supercharger? Heck yeah! 200hp. Not to bad in my book.
Wish I could get your Pewter SS and trade the ole 97 SS instead!

Yeah, still up in the air about skyline. If my sister comes, we'll probably take her car. I ahve yet to ask her...dont see her much, even though we live under the same roof
Well..the point of getting the Cavy, is to pay off bills and save up....Little mods at a time Sure would be nice to put a blower on that baby...that's the nice thing about the Eco-tec, it takes well to mods!!! Just like our LS1's
