I am adding the CME to my SS soon. But before I install the tip I had an extra brace welded on to it for extra support. I hear the factory tip can crack or break.
I don't think this one will.
Next step is to polish it up and off to the powder coater.
I'm having the tip black powder coated in a high gloss. Should look awesome.

Nice job. I think the polish and black coating will look great. I got my CME kit this last week. SLP fixed the problem with the weak CME center weld with a really good brace across the back. They told me that once they got the CamaroSS OEM stuff back to NJ they could fix a few items, this being the first. Sorry, not able to post pics. Didn't realize that you needed a web host. Will fix in a day or so when I get time.

Great idea. I am having my CME fixed on Friday, as it is already broken. My LE/SS had the CME ordered on the car, and the odometer is reading right at 12,000 miles.
I am not sure how long the factory weld held, as I have owned the car a little over 1 month. It looks crappy, so I am having another brace welded into place and I am hoping the small welded section can be cut off or ground down smooth.
The powder coat idea is cool, also.

I would look into having it fixed under warranty. Mine broke because I had an aftermarket exhaust installed, so warranty coverage was not an option for me, but if your exhaust is factory, you may have a claim.

It appears there has been at least one attempt to fix the original brace. I will check to see if it is under warranty as well, I did not think of that!!
Thanks, Pofomoco
