My wife and I were going to order our SS (SOM, no T-tops, CME and maybe Bilstein)in mid-April 2002. I had contacted the GM Buy Power mgr (fleet mgr) and set up an appointment for Saturday. We arrived at the dealership and saw the LE still wrapped up- plastic on the outside, the seats were covered. (And it still had the SLP catalog, price list and 35th portfolio in the envelope.)
Took the LE for a drive (!), came back and told the assistant to the fleet mgr that I wanted to order an SS if possible, if not I would buy the LE.
Couldn't order one, so the LE came home on the following Wednesday.
