Yep......14 inches of the wet heavy stuff with no real way to deal with it. Snow removal equipment is minimal and if you don't live on a main road you won't see your road cleared at all. The city is virtually shut down today. It will warm up over the weekend but its gonna be awhile before this goes away. I am a hardened northerner who has been thru many many snow storms and this is as bad as anything I have seen except for a blizzard. The "wet/heavy" makes it very hard to deal with which all you other northeners know all too well.

We got it good here south of Greensboro as well over a foot in a short time. Last night I had to pic Cindy up at work at the hospital in Greensboro at midnight. She did not drive to work yesterday with the roads getting bad. Problem is we live about 34 miles from her work. There were cars off the road everywhere as this was the slickest snow you ever drove on and over a foot deep.I saw 4 wheel drives could not get up hills and I was driving the SS. It took us 3.5 hours to get home from her work and it was snowing so hard you could not see the road or where the road was the snow was so deep. I left home to go get her at 15 till 11 last night and got back home at 3.30 this morning. The SS made it fine but does not look like one that just won 1st place at the Winter nats LOL [Frown]

You'd be amazed at how well your SS will handle with some weight in the trunk and winter tires [Wink] But then again, you guys aren't to used to it and not a worthwhile investment. [Smile]

I know about that and last night I made it places in town that frint wheel drives were sitting and spinning to get up hills at a stop light. The traction control did its job. I had 2 front wheel drive cars at home but drove the SS when it was that bad. For many years along time ago I spent alot of time on the roads all over the country out in Washington state and all over so I know about deep snow.. I have been in it 15 feet deep out west in the winter. Funny thing is when we get snow like this here more of the cars off slid off the roads are from up north than local. The snow here gets very wet and very slick

Wow Mike........I never imagined an SS could handle this snow. Those wide tires are usually terrible and with the wet heavy snow like we had it just makes it worse. Your ASR was probably working overtime. [Eek!] Hopefully you are home hibernating with the rest of us today. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

You are right about all that and the wide tires the trick is watch where you get stoped and plan your street through town as to handleing it does that well if you are about to slide and yes the asr stayed lit up about 70% of the time

The reason it took over 3 hours last night to make about 20 miles and this was on the 4 lane 421 south is all the trucks and cars backed up in fromt of us going 2 miles a hour most of the time. and so many trucks and cars off the road
