Well given all the GM knowledge on this site I thought I would post this here.. Who knows, somebody might happen to know
The stock trans shift cable (from a new f-body)fit but the bend is too tight and the cable broke. given where the console needs to be (and thus the shifter) and where the trans is the stock fbody shifter cable is just too short to be reliable..
Personally I was amazed at how short the actual 4L60E fbody cable was..
I need one thats maybe 4+ inches longer.. anyone know a GM application that uses a floor shift and a longer cable?
We were thinking maybe from an S10 or even an earlier LT1 fbody.. There has to be one longer than this 2 foot long fbody unit.. HELP!
This is about the last item to get worked out.. Oh and thanks my local tuner Mike Morgan of "e-tune" and John at Speartech we were able to successfully fire up the car yesterday.. it sounds wicked mean with open headers

I used the stock 1969 horseshoe shifter assy. with a stock 1969 cable and an adapter that is readily available from the aftermarket....
But you are using a new console / shifter assy.....hhhhhmmmmmm....not too many choices as GM didn't use floor shifters on many late model cars....I'll look around.
BTW, have you checked to see if a B&M replacement might work?

...another thought, ...YEAR ONE did that '69 project. I believe that car was a test case for new products they were going to offer. Maybe the cable could be one of them?? ...I'll keep my ears open...

I would try and see if the lenght of the cable for a S-10 with the optional floor shifter will be any longer.Maybe even the newer Chevy trucks that offer a floor mounted shifter cable. Maybe it does not even have to be for a floor shifter and one from a GM front wheel drive with a 4 spd auto will work...like a Cadillac STS. Call local dealers and see what they have in stock then go out there and match up the cable to a longer one. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

I will contact Year one but my engine sits a bit farther back (better weight distribution) so they might of been able to use the stocker..
I was also advised that maybe a 86-88 Camaro shifter cable might work (since the engine wasnt under the cowl).. I had to spend the $$ to order one and have it be wrong..
The GTO uses a mech linkage and not a cable so thats out.. i still dont know what system the SSR uses..
Something so simple is proving very difficult.. lol..
