This was on the 1st gen site this morning, showed it to the wife and she said it sounded like me, so here is so that some of you other 1st gen owners that trailer your car can have a look.
________________________________________________ OK, my 68 gets 18 miles to the gallon, WITH the 4.11 gears, and I still trailer it when I'm going more that 200 miles. The part that really sucks is that the truck pulling it gets around 12 MPG...
Why do I trailer it you ask?
Toms Top Ten Reasons to Trailer:
1) No place to mount the CB radio in the 68. 2) The stereo in the 68 sucks and I don't care to cut up the dash. 3) I can smoke cigars in the truck, not in the 68. 4) The truck rides much better on the freeway. 5) I can throw whatever I want in the bed of the truck without concern. 6) I ahh, don't drink beer in the 68. 7) The 68 becomes somewhat surrounded by 6" steel channel while trailering it. 8) Ever see the expression on some goofs face when you slowly move a trailer towards their car, letting them know to get the f*&k away? It's nice...... 9) The truck has a built in trash can.(sliding rear window) And ... 10) I just looks so freaking cool up there...........

Wife said number 10 was the real reason I trailer, she says everytime I put it on the trailer I stand back and stare at it for 30 minutes before I do anything else.

Bob You left one out. Do you know how hard it is on a motor in a car running 411 gears to run hiway speeds on today interstates at say 75 or 80 for many many miles. Lots of rpm's for a long time not good

#. It's an eye catcher sitting upon the trailer and neat to see people speeding up and slowing down to eyeball it! #. It's protected on the trailer from the idiot jealous drivers going down the highways! #. It's on the trailer because I am driving the other one and my girlfriend isn't trusted enough to drive it yet! #. It is a surprise when you are at a show and people hear it start up for the first time instead of hearing it drive up! #. It's on the trailer because you can carry more beer in the truck than in the trunk of the Camaro! #. I do not have to race some kid to prove how fast it is when it is on the trailer! #. It just looks so damn good sitting up there!

1= I DRIVE this car every[rain or shine] 2= I DELIVER with this car 3= I DRIVE this car to and from the track every weekend[160 miles each way] 4= I DROVE it down to the IHRA Nationals in Epping N.H.[360 miles each way]in 5 hours. 5= I RACED it in Epping,then DROVE it home. 6= I bought my car to DRIVE not to tow 7= It has 4.11 9" and still gets 20+ mpg 8= I have done 75 runs in one 3 day weekend. 9= It blows the drivers away that get passed by it on the highway. 10= If my car gets too fast to be a daily driver,I will slow it down then. 11= NOTHING beats DRIVING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually ive never like trailering cars.. they are too much fun to drive.. for example.. i got more satisfaction Driving my SS 300 miles to Phoenix, winning the show and driving home than trailering it there..
That being said I could see doing the trailering deal if your going to either shows FAR away or lots of shows that are a good distance away (or if you have a classic low miles car)..
Some people trailer their cars TOO much.. at what point does a car stop being a car if its never driven???
Im gonna drive the crud out my 69 when its done (unless i take it to BG or something).

Steven, I agree with you on driving my car all the time but mine is a new car so to speak being a 2001 and with 410's it would make the M6 tranny have a more usefull 6th gear but with a 60's camaro with factory trans be it a 4-speed or not on todays interstates the speeds are to high to run the motor like that on along trip. Anyone thinks I don't drive mine it now has 60,598 miles on it and at the Winter Nationals in florida with almost 59,000 on it still won 1st place in the modified class with a platinum score of 994 out of a 1000 points posible and I drove it almost 750 miles to get there one way

... mine is not a 'Garage Queen' for show only to be driven everywhere, it's not registered for the street anymore and all I do is road race with it. If it breaks it goes on the trailer and I can still get it home.

Julie is the coupe and has over 22k miles and Jenny is the vert and has a little over 6k miles. I guess you can say mine are "driven" pretty regular. I drive Julie regularly, but do not like the six speed in Jenny, so Jenny gets just a little road action. Being I do not like the six speed that much, I trailer her to the shows when they are a good ways off......but Julie is driven to every event. "That's my stories and I am sticking to them!" Here's what I think is cool......badazzzzzz car in enclosed trailer pulled by badazzzzz truck....everything the same color (pref. black) & drippin' with chrome.....

Look at the thread I made called "Body Work". Trailering a car could still damage the car. My son's car has 3.73 gears and a 3 speed automatic trans with no overdrive. It turns a lot of rpms at 70 mph and with a 3500 rpm stall convertor the convertor is just in the lock up stage at that speed.That means a lot of heat from the trans and not to mention the 6-8 mpg it seems to get with that LS6 454. Thats what I was getting at Greg with my SS and a M6 tranny the motor is turning hardly at all at 80 miles a hour. But a older camaro with no over-drive of anykind and with 411's you know what the motor is turning at 80 or even 70 75

I'm just lazy. You clean the car all week to go to a show if there's any kind of road crime the car looks like it's never been cleaned and you spent half the day recleaning your car.
I love going to a show pulling the car off the trailer, wiping it down and enjoying the rest of my day. Plus you have a place to go sit out of the sun.

I either trailer everything I race or make sure there is a truck/trailer available for the return trip if needed. It's not fun to break something at the truck and have to figure out how to get the car and yourself home. I torn up a set of gears at the track years ago. I had to wait a very cold 2 hours for someone to drive 120 miles to pick up myself and a friend. The car ('93 Z) sat in the pits for the next day's event (Mustang Day). Those guys loved that!
My Suburban sees a little track time once in awhile. I even tow that or make sure there is an open trailer coming back my way. 400+ rear wheel horsepower moving a heavy truck will probably break something

The "Twins" are not "trailer queens", but are both driven. I think "trailer queens" are the ones that never see the highway under their own power. I go to shows and see the cars that were totally rebuilt with no miles on the speedometers or way low miles for their years. This is a "trailer queen" to me. And yes, there are those little things called "rock chips" and "dings" to show they are driven. I am not proud of my "dings", but at the car shows, people know she is driven. Racing? Heck yes, I am going to haul my 220" Dragster....it is a little hard to get it licensed for the street to drive it! ha ha Door Slammers can or cannot be driven. That is a personal choice. Me? I am going to trailer it. When it breaks...I am still going home after loading it!
......and I still have room in the back of the truck for the groceries, beer, and a place to sleep that is roomy and comfortable, if I went somewhere! These are just my thoughts on trailers and cars. No disagreements here.
