Today, as we left the driveway, Missi tried to put the passenger window up. There was no response when she pushed the button, so I tried, but still there was nothing.
I know there's a history with driver's window motors, but what about the passenger side? How would I go about checking the motor? I've printed off Steve's instructions for removing the door panel, but do I need to go that far?
If the window motor is out, can anyone tell me where on the parts diagram I'll find the number to get a replacement?

I figure it MIGHT be the weather today. Warmer than it has been, and it's relatively drizzly...anyone think that might play a part in it, or am I just stretching for excuses to NOT have to take the panel off?

Mine get slower as it gets colder but haven't died yet.

My passenger side is going bad too. In cold weather it barely works. I figure I'll be replacing it soon. I've heard the Auto Zone replacements are better than the OEM ones.

I have found my problem to be not the window motor (the driver side was replaced once) but the relay which is located under the dashboard. When it is warm out, my windows will stick. I will push the button and after several tries, will get a small buzzing sound from under the dash. I have traced it to a relay for the windows. I know that the problem isn't the motors because the motors work perfectly.
I think many people who have had this problem have overlooked this relay. I have a schematic at home and have looked up the part number on GMpartsdirect. It's pretty cheap. I haven't had any problems lately but I will hopefully be replacing that relay when I remove the interior to put in sound deadening this summer.

i just put a driver's side window motor in yesterday. what a *itch !
Usually, these motors will go up or down an inch or two, then stop, wait a minute, and you get another inch or two.
Check your switch, they go out too., Cheap, easy.
Sometimes if it's the switch, and you press really hard on it, it works, but not 100%, sometimes they wiggle back and forth indicating breakage. Is it as tight as the other switch ?
If you do a search at camaroZ28.com there's printed instructions and photographs of complete window motor replacement !!! Excellent.

Mine is slowly dying as well. It goes down easily enough, going up is a different story. A common problem from what I hear. Can't afford a replacement this year so I guess the car only come out on sunny days this summer!

The relay is a unusual thing with regards to what I've read and experienced, but I do not doubt you.
I bought a '94 Z28 in '93, kept it till 2001
put 5 window motors, 3 drivers side, 2 passenger put 3 switches in it put 0 relays
we did the auto passenger window express down mod on my car last year. the pass side is alot slower up and down than the drivers side. we used the GM drivers side parts for the mod. could the difficulites described above apply to my situation & potential fix as well??
doing the express down mod wasn't a huge deal. we took the door panel off with no problem and got it back together easily as well.

Well, I went ahead and took the door panel off and found out that I was WAY over my head! So, I went to ABC Auto, paid $62.00 with tax and all for a new motor (I did the bump on the bottom of the door thing, and it didn't help), and had it installed for $65.00 today. All in all, $127.00. I hate it, but I'd rather have a vehicle where all the buttons, etc. work than to have one that we can't enjoy fully.
Just one of those times that I wish I were more mechanically inclined! Thanks, y'all!
