I have probably about 20+ coats of Zaino on my SS. I took the cover off of the car this past weekend and noticed smudges/fingerprints on the car and they do not wipe off. They may be inbetween the coats of Zaino, I'm not sure??? Should I just take all the Zaino off and start over? Will washing the car with Dawn soap take the Zaino off?

No need to take all the Zaino off. Clay the entire car and see if that takes care of them. If not, remove the Zaino in the areas you see the smudges/fingerprints and then repolish. Use rubbing alcohol to remove the Zaino where needed.

Also, Dawn will not remove Zaino it will only dull the finish - Zaino is alkaline resistent so if you wash your car with Dawn it will dull the finish but a quick spray of Z6 will bring the shine and feel right back - try using the clay to remove the spots - i believe that will work

I'm not trying to be smart**s, but how does the clay remove the impurities without removing the Zaino? I'm claying my car next week as the front fenders and part of the hood have a rough feeling when you rub your hand across them while the rest of the car doesn't. Are you saying that my car will still have Zaino on it after I get done claying it?? I figured that I would be starting all over again.

one spot at a time will be fine - you do not have to clay the whole car

using the zaino clay will not remoeve the coats of zaino you have on your car - the clay bar came out many years after the the polish and sal did not want to have those who had an abundance of zaino on their car to lose all the work they had done so he designed the clay to work with the zaino on the car
if you've ever seen the mach 3 turbo razor commercial and how it lifts and cuts the hair, the clay bar works the same way on the car - it removes the contaminants w/o removing the polish - if you have any more questions let me know - hope this helps!

Think of a clay bar like one of those Biore strips you see on advertised on TV.

All good points the others mention..this is how persceive the clay bar use:
As you run the clay bar over a lubed surface (car wash soap and water in spray bottle) the clay bar will just glide right over top of the paint/wax surface, but any small specks of dirt, aka impurities, they will stick to the clay bar, thus leaving your car nice and silky smooth. Trust me, like others have mentioned, its gonna take a LOT to get taht Zaino off!
And might as well clay your whole car while your'e at it...might take a little bit, but WELL WORTH the time.

When I claybarred Missi's SS, it only took me about 45 minutes. I didn't feel it took that long. Of course, I could have been doing something wrong. I removed a LOT of the "bad" things on the body, just feel like maybe I went too fast.

I've never used the clay bar, `cause I don't know what to use for lubricant. I don't have any Z6. I could get some, but can I just use soap and water?

Don't use Z6 even if you had some...too expensive to waste like that! Just mix a SMALL amount of car wash (preferably Z7, but doesn't have to be) with water in a spray bottle and spray liberally onto small surface of car. Be sure you don't use the claybar on a dry part of the car...use plenty of the mixture in the spray bottle. The claybar should glide easily right along the surface, like a hockey puck over smooth ice. You will feel it picking up all the contaminants, and once you can rub the surface without feeling any bumps from the claybar picking up stuff, move on to another section.

As biSScuit sez don't waste the Z6. I use spray bottle with (ok here come the laughs) baby shampoo. Hey if it is good enough for a baby's rear end it's good enough for the Hawks butt as well...

I mix a 1/2 cap of Z7 car wash with 12oz of water - that's all it takes and that 12oz will go a LONG way - I just bought a 12oz garden spray bottle from Walmart put a 1/2 cap of Z7 in it, add water and that has lasted me almost a year now and still have plenty left - in fact it works well at removing bugs too so you don't have to waste the Z6 - I spray the Z7/H2O mixture on the bugs splatters and they come right off - I then follow it with a quick hit of Z6 and my front facia looks like I just washed it!

Doesn't it say on the claybar's instructions what to mix and how much water to mix it with? That's how I went about getting my lubricant for the clay bar...With all the pollen that's fallen here, it's time I get after Missi's today!

Yes, 1/2 cap of Z7 car wash to 12oz of water - that's what I use.
