A friend of mine, and a real Camaro fan (he owns a great looking '97 SS), and I have been trading e-mails about Y2Y options and SS door stickers.
My '99 has the WU8 & Y2Y codes on the driver's door GM Service sticker, plus the Y2Y options are listed on an SLP sticker on the passenger door. My friend advises that someone told him that there are SS's out there with Y2Y options installed at the factory and no code on the GM sticker. Apparently the Y2Y options were on the cars when they were purchased new at the dealer.
Here's the question. Did SLP install Y2Y options on new Camaro SS's that were originally ordered only with the WU8 SS option? e.g. Could a dealer special order a dual/dual exhaust as an aftermarket mod. and have it installed by SLP before the cars left Montreal?
Your comments would be appeciated.

No John if the car only had the WU8 SS option from the factory then SLP would not have done anything to the car but put the hood, trunk spoiler, and badgeing on the car, from 98 on that is. If the Y2Y was not added to the original order from the dealer to the factory it could not be added later and I know from personal experience. But the dealer could have ordered the exhaustand put it on them selves maybe.

If you mean did the dealer not order Y2Y and got Y2Y anyhow - yes, it did happen, especially for Canadian cars since Umberto would do things illegally for his Canadian friends. He was fired 3 times for it.

Absolutely not-SLP did not do any aftermarket mods on any cars at its LaSAlle facility. Sometimes the cars were returned after purchase to either LaSAlle or Zeke's and parts were added, but SLP could not do any GM unapproved options before the cars were shipped back to Ste. Therese for shipment to dealers.

Jeffy Clear this up for me please. Did the cars come to SLP as fully built Z28's i.e. hoods, badging, 16" tires, etc.. I am under the impression that cheap fill in hoods were used since they were going to be changed anyway. You guys didn't pry off logos from fresh paint did you?

Absolutely! My '98 SS (Canadian car)has no Y2Y code on the door sticker, but came with the dual-dual, Bilstein, Auburn, Hurst, Mats & Fobs and Lubes pkg. This is what also shows on the SLP window sticker. When I bought the car from Dean Myers Chev-Olds in Toronto, they gave me the copy of the SLP order with the number on it. Within an hour of posting that # on the Toronto F-body mailing list, I received a congratulatory e-mail from Umberto verifying the SLP Y2Y content with the only info being that order # from the dealer to SLP. That being said, I believe that EVERY '01 and '02 SS has the Y2Y code on the GM door sticker (at least according to the Camaro White Book). We have at least 1 '00 SS in the Toronto F-body club without the Y2Y code on the door (and at least 3 '98s with Y2Y content and no Y2Y designation on the door!) I know that Umberto added Y2Y content on one of the 98s after that particular car was preferenced.

Ditto Elie - as Teri mentioned. We went into detail about this with my car a few years back. The door sticker does not have Y2Y yet it has SLP options on the car and was verified correct by SLP. I believe a few 98's were done that way. I was also led to believe that after 98 it stopped. As SLP grew, tighter controls were put into place. But no system is perfect. I did meet a fellow driving a 98 Convertible SS in a Teal color. Said it was original - although Jeff and others have said it never happened. But.... there in the white book - 1 Mystic Teal 98 SS Vert was produced! Go figure!

Wow, Donald Trump has nothing on you considering the number of times you said "You're fired" to Umberto over the years.

Perhaps that's why Y2Y was an automatic sub-option when WU8 was ordered in later models, to keep "mistEaks" from happening. I never saw Y2Y on the RPO order list at the dealer, but WU8 was there. The only thing I was aware of for 2002 was if you wanted upgrade options the dealer had to fax in the separate sheet to SLP before the car's VIN was assigned. I was under the impression that Y2Y was included regardless if you got the extra options or not.
