Well, I've read about it but yesterday I got the bejeezus scared out of me....

Nice cool air yesterday, no one around as I make a corner, so I put the pedal to the floor in 2nd and it went right up into the rev limiter when I engaged the clutch, and I'm like wtf?, so I kill the engine, coast, hit the starter, rev limiter again, and the key's on for steering, and all the dashboard lights are on, and I'm coasting... thinking I just ruined my engine somehow on hard acceleration....

then I remembered the floor mat deal, so I just yanked on it, hit the starter.... yep, curse of the SS floor mat... somehow scooted up

the car forgave me [Razz]

That is very common to happen especially around here in the winter when the floor mat is wet then freezes at night. I have had it happen before.Glad you did not wreck or damage your car. [Smile]

A little trick, pop your toe under the gas peddle and yank it back up, instead of shutting it down at full rev... [Wink]

Interesting. My SS floor mats live under my bed in the original plastic bag. They only come out
for shows.

Same here. And I even have a back up set too!

Hope this never happens to me. Would have to change my shorts afterwards.

So THAT'S why everybody removes the driver's floor mat on lapping days!! [Cool] Geez... and to think that I was getting a bit P.O.'ed and wondering if it was worth the hole in my carpet where the heel of my right shoe rests! [Wink]
Just glad to hear that you got out of it with no more than a scare! [Smile]

Best regardSS,

Elie

Don't blame SLP...blame me and my team. When SLP started to make stuff with Z28/SS, we asked them to stop because there had never been a Z28/SS......either a Z28 OR an SS.....so they complied.....

I had this happen to me on the way to work one morning. I'm not usually a morning person but I was WIDE awake by the time I got to the office that morning. As I recall I didn't even need coffee that morning.

You missed all of them they had on clearance a couple of years ago. They were practically giving them away....they were very inexpensive.
