Well, its time to hop up the ole' SS. With 3000 miles on the odometer and I want to put a stick in it. Would like to have a nice lop at idle more than anything else. What would you recommend to install?

Cams vary quite a bit. What are you looking for exactly? Top end, low end torque, lope?

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

Maybe some better low end torque and a nice Lop, nothing real radical, just something better than stock.

You should look at the Hot cam. Big lope, low end power, and can go in with ls6 springs. If you want power, look at what Thunder Racing has to offer. The TR224 on a 112 lsa will give you nice lope and can get you 400 rwhp with tuning. It also drives nice with a mn6. If you want a crazy idle, go with the Trex. I had the oppurtunity to hear one this past weekend, and that thing just sounds SICK. God, that thing cammed hard. Scary hard. You would think it was a nascar.

I like my 224 on a 114 lsa. Nice smooth idle with 390 at the wheels with no tuning. Now I am finishing up my Absolute Speed head install with his ported intake and tb as well. It will work wonders with my, what is considered small today, cam.

Lots of cams out there. All you can do is search all the ls1 sites until you find whats right for you.

I agree, the TR224 is a very nice cam - a buddy had one on his WS6 and it was a bit more aggressive than my TR220 - just enough lope and some pretty good HP gains as well. And it passed VA emissions with no problems at all.

I had a mild cam put in my 02 SS last Saturday.
Dyno numbers: 375/rwhp, 368/rwtq. Torq hits 350 at 3200 rpm and stays flat till it gets to 368 at 5000 rpm. A little lobing and made it louder also.

This just arrived today:
Comp Cams
226/228 duration, .570"/.571", 111lsa

Will post my dyno numbers after I get it tuned on May 3rd.

I'd do some reading, pay a visit to ls1tech.com, a lot of indication to avoid the Hot Cam like the plague.
