like the driver of the gray camaro will come foward and self-incriminate himself.... they will throw him in Jail, and throw away the Key..... like the driver of the gray camaro is that stupid, that he would come forward
:had a similar situation last month here in RI it was a 98+ camaro
that is why I take it to the track... 2.5 hours away... if someone wants me to race them ...no one has ever tried I laugh at them and that just fine with me...
another preventable tragedy if the drivers only use common sense...
that is why when you go to the track there is all these safety regulations...and they do actually save lives as I have seen a few accidents

It will never end. Probably started with 2 kids racing Roman Chariots.
Education is the key. If we can spread the word to enough people it may save a tragedy.
I'm not innocent by any means of once being young and foolish. I've stated before, I'll still "punch" it a bit in first and second at the right time and place, but that's it. I have several of my son's friends that want to race me and I have a standard response. See you at Milan Dragway.
My heart goes out to the family of friends of the innocent victims.

I'm afraid you are right, Brian, and it's just so frustrating to see the needless pain and suffering. By the same token, one must never give up trying to educate - because as you say, it might save a tragedy.

I had the same sort of post when an innocent 17 year old boy was killed in our city when 2 cars (not fbods) crashed into his van while street racing, he was a passenger in. The one car left the scene and never seen since. We need the surviving victims of these things to go around to the schools like the say no to drugs campaign does. Some real heart wrenching, body and guts in your face reallity stuff. Scare them all straight. Its not allways kids either. Last year an older gentleman took his life out here after the street race he was involved in took the life of a young 21 year old. He was driving a Vette and left the scene. 4 days later they found a dude who asphyxiated himself in a Corvette....it was him.

Well....enough bad $hit happens without people "voluntarily" trying to kill themselves and others while racing.
A few weeks ago, two boys in my son's school were driving....maybe a little fast, certainly not racing....when their car hit the median and flipped upside down into oncoming traffic. Their car was hit by two other vehicles and the gas tank exploded, burning them to death.
Do you EVER get to where you don't worry when your child is out driving?? Posts: 3236 | From: Dallas, Texas | Registered: Nov 2002

No, DFW stations don't make it quite this far. Sometimes if we stand on the roof and hold the antenna with our toes facing NW we can pick up Channel 5 a little, but with Missi pregnant, I didn't want her up there until after the baby's born.
I wonder if trailering the T/A and taking it around to schools would do any good. Kids now-a-days seem to not really care about much if it doesn't effect them directly (I'm just cynical I guess...) But if it could save one person, it'd be worth it to me!
Thanks for those links, Elie. I hadn't seen it until this morning. A very tragic incident ...

I've had several students tell me they race out somewhere close to the school (I've even been invited a couple of times.....yeah, right! like I'd go....); when Lincoln Tech brought a race car out for Career Day, they all went ape$hit over it, and they like my car, too....
.....who knows....it might make an impression on some of them....

They go ape$hit over Missi's SS and my truck too...And I really do hope it'd make an impression, but like I said, I'm cynical...lol

I think back to high school and my 396 Chevelle. I could have done the same thing. We used to actually block traffic behind us on a fwy late at night. Not that there was much traffic to begin with at that time and the location. Had a real cavalier attitude about street racing. I should have had my azz kicked.

A friend and member of our club was speeding a few weeks ago and lost control of his camaro and wrecked. Actually, he went down a 30ft. inbankment, flipping the car 7 times. The worst part is that he had his 11 yr old boy with him. The son is still in the hopsital with a broken back and is paralzed!! 3 crushed vertabraes, 3 fractures to his skull, collapsed lung, broken ribs and both hips are broken. All because he was speeding!! That makes you think. We take that chance every time we get behind the wheel, but why risk someone else's life. If I hurt myself cause of my stupidity, that's one thing. But to risk INNOCENT lives is absurd!! This is a beautiful little boy that was a true athlete and now will never walk again..
