I've been planning on doing a head and cam swap...I keep getting people telling me to go for the blower. At first I wanted to stay NA, but the more I think about the more I'm warming up to the idea. I do live at nearly 5,000 ft. above sea level and the blower would help counter the thin air.

Soooo, who makes the best setup for a 4th gen and what are we looking at for price range for a good setup?

Not looking for the most expensive, but I do want decent qaulity.

Mike, do you resell them or can you recommend where I should buy one?

Will I need to upgrade the fuel injectors on an 02 SS (I beleive they are ZO6 injectors) I'm not sure how much boost I'd be running, but I'm not looking for wild...but certainly not mild. I think 425-460rwhp wold be a good target?

ATI is the best one for our cars. You can get a special but they still run about 4000-5000. You will need to change the injectors and up grade to a bigger fuel pump.

I talked to ATI. I also called Tbyrne, but they were busy. When they called me back I was tied up (as in busy you pervs [Eek!] )
The Guy I did talk to was out of Temp AZ.

4 psi kit $4,700 ~420RWHP
5-7 psi kit $5,200 ~420-480RWHP

He said the HP numbers were very conservative. He doesn't like customers saying, "but you promised ..."

The differance is the 5-7 psi kit includes injectors and the DSP programmer with custom tune.

Both packages have twin intercoolers and share the same centrifugal blower.

If I can come up with the money I'd go for the 5-7 psi kit. I'll need the DSP anyway so for the price it's a better deal. I asked if I'd need a new fuel pump and the guy said no...the jury is still out on that one.

If I go forward I'll call Tybrne back and give them my business due to all the support they give to the boards. [Wink]

I still have a passion about the head and cam swap for 400+rwhp and 10.8:1 CR with a thumpity thump cam, but the install on that blower sure looks easy. [Cool]

Prochargers seems to be the best around here with the local shops,,, BTW sheets I am only 20 minutes from TByrnes shop/house [Cool]

guy recently made close to 600 rwhp and 500+ rwtq at only 7.5 psi at max boost at redline (6500)

great thing about them the higher boost comes on later (4000 rpms) so it really streetable and every day driver friendly...

in short you got to talk to owner with em on to get their remarks on the +'s and -'s

Finally talked to Tybrne tech

At my altitude (4,800ft+) they recommend the D-1SC package to deal with the thin air. The P-1SC would likely make 4-5psi instead of 5-7psi up here.

The D-1SC comes with 42lb injectors and the pro pump in line fuel pump. The tuning is performed by Ed Wright and the pully is spec'ed for my altitude, mods and boost target. This is done by ATI.

Not sure if I can come up with the green, but at least I'll know when it's time to decide between heads and cam or SC. [Big Grin]

you may want 60# injectors as on average you do not want to exceed 85% of the max flow rate of the injectors.... in otherwords you might see it begin to lean out (blowers like it to be extra rich than the normal optimum of 13-1 more like 11-12 to 1 ) in the higher rpms... even with the good pump the injectors may mot flow enough at the higher rpms

Just what we've observed on a procharger D-1SC with the 42# .... with the high flow gas tank pump

fun will be routing the return for the gas lines ...

We saw all this on the dyno last sunday

Good advice..the reason I'd step up to the D-1sc is because of the altitude at which I live. I would in effect, be geeting the same bump as the 7psi P-1SC.

So that being said...?????
