Found out today that my last day at work will be May 28th, I'm being forced to retire. Had planned a lot of car things this summer, guess some of them will be cancelled as the retirement checks will be less than a 1/3 of what I make now. To make things worst my youngest son lost his job last Friday and will probably be moving home if he can't find anything in a couple of weeks.
Got to decide whether to keep little red or sell her.

what you should do is take the package, but try to swing a deal to come back and do "consulting" work for the company. I know several people that have done that successfully, they get their retirement pay, and nice consulting fees, most make as much or more than they did as regular engineers.
