How do the members of this board feel about replacing the standard ac delco oil filter with the pf 59. Are there any negative issues with the change? I don't want to make the change until I here that others have also made the change.

Steve, I just went to Murray's 2 weeks ago and found out that the AC Delco PF44 was not being made. I think I bought the PF59. It looks the same as the PF44 did and worked. [Smile]

Right. The PF44 has been discontinued. When I was in B.G., I grabbed the last 3 PF44 filters off the shelf at an Autozone for US$3.49. The cashier cross-referenced the # and the replacement came up as PF46 - so I got a few of those as well. The longer filter that works on the LS1 is a PF58, butI don't know ifthat # is still valid as I haven't bought one of those in a few years.

Best regardSS,

Elie

the longer filter fits, I just don't like the oil filter going below the protection of the oil pan.

going down the road at even legal hi-way speed and meeting a small rock could ruin a perfectly good day.

the stock one works just fine. been running them for years, the engineers figured it to be best and we haven't had one race car DNF due to any oiling issues.

I have used the PF44, PF46, PF58, PF59, PF61. All are interchangeable. I like the long filters and have the PF61 sitting in the garage waiting to go on this weekend.

Our Tahoe uses the same filters.

Last I checked the UPF44 is still avilable... its the only Delco Gold filter still being made. It is very popular with the vette guys so its still out there. Only way to get it is have your friendly GM dealer order you a case of 6. They are a ship direct item from the supplier.. Thus the reason you won't see in any store shelves.....

I use the 46 as my standard filter now. No problems.
