Hello! I dont post much, but I lurk quite often! Anyway, we have been a 2 F-Body family for three years now ever sinc emy youngest son was 15 and HAD to have a Camaro. He bought a 94 Z28 and it WAS a great car. We had to perform all the usual maintenence on it, but all in all it was as close to bullet proof for a teenager as a vehicle could be. Fasty Forward to a couple weeks ago and a deer that committed suicide. He was coming home one night and it came out of nowhere, (Im sure an 18 yr old in a Z wasnt speeding ) and wiped out the front end basically setting off the airbags in the process. He held it well and came to a safe stop. Since the car was a 94 and the insurance estimate came up to more than 75% of the vehicle value, they totaled it. I REALLY hated to let that car go, it had 129K on it but the engine was SUPER strong. Add that to the fact that we just put a ton of $$ in a tranny build up, and you can start to understand why! Alas, it was a lost cause to keep it and fix it back, so we took the settlement and started looking for another F-body. We found a AWSOME deal on a '98 WS6 Ram Air Trans Am 6spd with only 39K miles so that is now his current ride! I just HOPE he can handle the difference in the two cars.

Just glad to hear that your son walked away unharmed from that encounter with the deer! Sounds like he's had a fair amount of experience behind the wheel of a Z28. My 21-year-old son keeps pestering me to give him the keys to the SS. Since he's had his license, I've told him that he is more than welcome to drive it - after he's gone to a track school and has had the opportunity to learn what these cars are capable of under controlled conditions, rather learning the hard way on the street (which I KNOW these kids will do - I was there once and I'm very greatful to be alive!)
