I dont think so... so look at the 2002 Camaro SS 35th LE poster titled "Make A Lasting ImpreSSion" .... In the top car, look at where the antenna should be... that does not look like a power antenna nor does it look like a fixed, non-powered antenna, so where is the antenna....
It's gets me thinking they took off the antenna for the photo shoot... but that indirectly tells me, even GM was annoyed with the fixed antenna on the SS Posts: 694 | From: Newport, RI (Middletown Technically) | Registered: Feb 2000

The antenna mast were removed for the photo shoot. Other Camaro posters thru the years also show the mast removed for a cleaner picture. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Mabey GM wanted to give the Pontiac owners something to hold over our heads . Not realizing that it is a simple mod .

Or maybe they wanted to sell Pontiacs!

I would have bought a 'hawk ... if it wasn't for the "birdbath" trunk lid on the 'vert. Posts: 4222 | From: Winnipeg MB CA | Registered: Feb 2000

Well I know I will get flak for this but I like the looks of the fixed antenna and don't care for the power ones. Without the antenna the car looks missing something

The first mods I did to my LE was replace the sound system and add a power antenna.
As I have stated a few times on several boards, while I still love the SS, if I had it to do again, I would have gotten an M6 SOM TA Firehawk. Posts: 106 | From: St. Augustine, FL. | Registered: Aug 2003

OK....I admit it......partially my fault.
I fought putting a power antenna on the Camaro.
Why? Customer dissatisfaction......
I've yet to see one that doesn't break in numbers. (100 cars....high number of failures)
It is expensive to replace....and the customer has to bring it in for service.
You are correct in that we remove the antennas when shooting photos of cars. (in fact, you'd be surprised at how long it takes to set up a photoshoot...not for those of us with little patience!
OK...now, for those of you who like power antennas, I'll go stand in the corner........
(btw....Firebird popup headlamps....the problem I have is that I'm so used to the Camaro lights automatically coming on, that I have found myself tooling around town as it gets dark without the headlamps on in a Firebird.......seems I forget to switch them on!!!! -- ok...another 10 minutes in the corner......)

I doubt mine will ever fail. I rarely have the radio on. Why drone out the sound of the car? Posts: 2441 | From: Chester, NY | Registered: Feb 2000

Thank you Scott I agree on the trouble they give and a car does look naked with out one and as for pop-up headlights I never have liked them I did not like them on a couple vettes I hade. They give trouble and make a car look stupid when the lights are on
