Couldn't have asked for a better day at the track today, lapping with the WOSCA (Western Ontario Sports Car Association)guys, (what a great bunch!) - friendly, laid-back and just out to have some fun on the track beating on their cars!( :-) It's great to see a club with so many members who have road racing as a primary focus, and not an ego in sight! Once again, more than enough seat time today (approx. 115-120 km. ON THE TRACK) according to my odometer! My highlights... - the car performed flawlessly, and I stayed on the pavement all day! - riding shotgun in a mid-11 sec. '03 Cobra. Holy Crap! These things are just too incredible! Too bad the car's front end is so heavy, and the stock worn-out F1s weren't up to the task of keeping the car pointed straight. Not to mention that his brakes crapped out on him after lunch. But man, when that thing is floored, it is just f'in crazy!! - FINALLY gave my C5/Z06 brakes a bit of a workout on a bit of a higher speed track and I still didn't find their limits! ( :-) Next test for the brakes (and me!)is the 2-day Track School on the "Big Track" at Mosport on August 28-29. I just enrolled this week and I'm already busting to do this one! (my compensation for not being able to go to Indianapolis in a couple of weeks!) - finding out that the F1 GS-D3 tires are an acceptable replacement for the SZ50 EPs. I realized that max. inflatable pressure on these tires is 51 psi (as opposed to the SZ50 EP's max rating of 44lbs) There's a reason... the sidewalls on the Goodyears are like mush! I ended up running these things at their max (over 50 lbs. hot in the front) in order to minimize excessive rollover. The also screamed like hell around the fast corners and have a totally different feel (nowhere near as communicative or as connected) than the SZ50 EPs. The SZ50 EP is a superior tire, but given the great wet weather performance of these Goodyears, I am prepared to accept the small amount of compromise with these tires on the track. In all fairness, they wore pretty well today - the SZ50 EP probably would have exhibited more wear. As well, I will now run these on the street at 40 psi front and 38 in the rear. This greatly improves the tire's responsiveness with little or no compromise in ride quality and besides - it's more like what I'm used to! - I drove a Prelude today on the track! A novice asked me to drive his car while he rode shotgun in order to get a feel for how his car behaved on the track. A great exercise for me in keeping things in perspective! It was a very nicely balanced car... but... it just served to remind me how lucky we are to have these F-bods that are just so freakin' capable on the track!!!

Right on man! WOSCA is a great bunch. I ran 3 autoX's last year there and joined for this year. Maybe next year I'll be brave enough to lap my SS there. For now I love learning the car control the autoX offers. Thanks for sharing your day! I'm envious

Thanks for the recap, you evidently enjoyed yourself greatly. So the GS D3 don't just look like a SP9000 copy, they handle the same too. I hope I can get a road course day in this year,I really miss it!!!!!

glad to hear you had some fun on track. I try to schedule a track week end once a month or so to feed my addiction.
