Are GM employees still able to get the $1000 discount certificates? If so, I am going to be buying a Silverado before June 1 and would like to get one. As I recall, the employee gets some type of rebate for passing these on to a customer that buys a vehicle.

Anyone here know of someone that has access to these certificates??

Leonard

Its not a $1000 doller cert... rather you can buy at the supplier rate which is 4% above what a GM employee pays. I'm not sure how the new process works. I need some certain info like name, birthdate etc and I can print one off... I haven't been into the new website to check out how it works... I'm traveling this week for business and don't have a lot of time. If you can wait until next week or the weekend I can look into it more... or mabye someone else can get you one before me... ED?

According to my dealer, the certificate brings the vehicle price down to GMS pricing. He is already selling me the vehicle below GMS price so the number does not do me any good. Does this sound right?

Right now on a 2500HD Silverado you can get a $2500 rebate, $1000 customer cash, $2000 on my GM card points plus a bonus of $1000 currently being offered on the GM points. $6500 discount from invoice price. This amounts to approx. a $10,000 discount from window sticker!

Too good to pass up!

That doesn't sound right...or likely. As stated above GMS pricing is the GM employee price plus 4%. When I bought my Suburban its MSRP was close to $48,000 the GMS price was just under $40,000 (~$39,980) Prior to that the dealer said invoice plus $700 was about $42,000.

If he's clearing the car out or for some other reaon he's discounting it that much, you might be getting a good deal, but I'd make sure he's correctly quoting the GMS price first.

Hope this helps and good luck [Wink]

Edit: Re-read your post. If all those discounts really add up...what are you doing in here? Get out and grab that sucker now!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

The dealer will give me a copy of the invoice so I will check the GMS price on the unit.

All REBATES are in ADDITION to the GM supplier price. Your $6500 in rebates ,GM card, and incentives should come OFF AFTER the Supplier pricing. Hope this helps.

Edit.......If he is giving you a lower price than supplier and then taking off $6500 you cant beet the deal.

You need to get the price of the car with the GM supplier discount, its a few hundred under invoice. Some dealers maybe able to beat the price. Plus if you take the GM supplier price you may lose out on (local) dealer incentives.

ie: GM supplier price or another 1000 dollars off invoice.

so you need to get both prices.

We are looking into a GM car now.

Just look at the invoice there is a line that shows GMS. If the price he is quoteing you is less then GMS and when you pile on all your other stuff then its one heck of a deal. Dealers can sell a vehicle for less then GMS if they want. It must be a aged unit for the dealer or something as it sounds like he wants to move it off his lot. Even on a GMS deal the dealer make a few bucks(more then you think)... sometimes more then a regualr 'ol car deal... these days dealers are pratically having to give 'em away... I have guys dipping into holdback to move the metal....
