Anyone have expoerience with either of them?
I can't take the local radio stations anymore. They repeat the same 50 songs day in & out. I don't plan on installing one in any of my cars at the moment. I will just buy the head unit and the boom box so I can listen to it at home, the office or wherever I go. They will both run $200, the only difference is the monthly cost.
Any suggestions?

XM for sure. Steve has it at the shop and we also have one for the car. He got it because he's tired of the old and redundant play list of local radio.
XM has the channel (not that you care about that) and the .
I find it ironic that Sirius sponsors a NASCAR team, but doesn't carry the races. Their competitor, XM, does.

I bet XM has some exclusivity language in their agreement with NASCAR.

XM for me... Had it for about 1 year.. will never let it go... I can tell you honestly, I havent even set my local presets since battery change in the SS 7 months ago...

Another XM user here... I now make it a point to pick all my company beaters with it. Its one of the must have options I gotta have... I love the 80's, 90's, The Boneyard, XM Comedy and the smooth jazz station.... I haven't listened to local radio in a long time. I did once for a minute and couldn't stand the quality it sounds so bad... you get spoiled by the digital (CD quality) sound....

I agree with MM. I dont even listen to the local commercial/same songs repeated stations anymore, except for Mark and Brian in the am. I have XM, and love it. Have it on all day, every day at the shop and love it.

I love XM, the selection of music types is great. I also have not reset my local presets for a long time (since the h/c etc. install last August.)

I have the "XM" in my new Dale Earnhardt Jr Monte Carlo Supercharged SS and its awesome. The price is $9.95 per month.When you sign on, they have different yearly packages where the monthly charge is less.I went with a (3) year package.Since I have it,I don't listen to anything else.The music is awesome. I've been considering that jump to XM myself, however, historically, every "subscription" I've ever seen eventually gets taken over by advertising.
Just last night we went to the movies and had to endure at least 4 "commercials" before the start of the trailers, then the start of the movie (Shrek 2, the "COPS" bust scene and subsequent "prison break" scene had me in stitches).
I timed it as nearly 15 minutes of pre-movie garbage. It used to be only public service announcements, movie house specials/information, and trailers that only took a few minutes. They even used to run advertising on VHS rental tapes, too! With DTV, I haven't rented a movie since the switch to DVD, so I'm not sure about those.
I also remember when MTV debuted (August 1981, thereabouts? I thought Nina Blackwood was all that back then.) when they showed videos with no commericals, since it was a premium cable channel. Very cool. Now look at what it's become. Uggh. Even cable channels like HBO, while not running commericals, are coming close by "advertising" upcoming specials, movies, etc. on and for their own channel- a LOT! Used to be the movies ran one right after another. It's still ok though, for now.
That's why I'm skeptical about XM/Sirius. My prediction is that eventually, either they'll jack the price up tremednously to keep it profitable while commerical-free, or you will start to here "promotions" and/or sponsors at some point. I hope I'm wrong, but I've yet to see any public subscription service not succumb to sponsorships eventually. It always seems to creep in the cracks in the door and spreads like kudzu. Sad, actually. But that's just my opinion.
Although XM is still very cool at this point, so it's not like I'm against it or talking about doom and gloom or anything. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess.

I doubt you'll see comercials on XM... thats the whole point to PAYING for radio. XM here about a month or two ago went commercial FREE on their music stations. Some still have commercials like the comedy and talk radio etc. Sirus was commercial free also but costs more... XM to compete went commercial free and has a lower monthly fee.

XM user in the wife's Suburban...I really like it, but can not compare it to Sirrus. I would think with all of the manufacturer support XM is getting Sirrus might end up going the way of Beta tapes.
Question for you SS XM users, how did you add XM to your SS? Head unit, antenna...????? I knpw it's only $6/month for each additional unit after the $9.99 main unit. I'd love to add it to the SS.

I'd have a hard time paying for any radio stations, but you guys keep doing it so my free stations get better. A CD changer does wonders.

My Pioneer Radio/CD player was XM ready, so all I have to purchase was the XM receiver, and the antenna
Excuse my dirty SS, We have had rain/storms every day since last week. XM says, you should mount the antenna on a metal surface, not possible. So i used very strong 3M tape to secure it to the Halo. Reception is fine and lets just say at 120mph, It doesn't whistle like my light bar did on my crown vic.
