I think what is most disturbing to me, is that so many of these "tuner" cars have more value in aftermarket equipment than the original car.
For example...
A used civic can be had for less than 10K. Its disturbing to see kids spend 8K on body panels and paint work, and then on top of that spend money on things like CAI, wheels, etc. I have seen cars like this that the owners claim cost them 25K-30K.
At that price, why not just buy a better vehicle to start with?
More lack of common sense and inability to do math...

The one bright side, if any ,is that young kids are getting back into cars again. Even our new Equinox has what some call Ricer tail lights, oh well the car companies are in business to make money and have to provide what the market wants.

A lot of it is cost. Look how cheap you can buy a use Cavalier ect. When I was a youth we bought used V8 muscle cars cheap. Sure wish I had just one of them now.

Again, comes down to what the kids can afford and more importantly what they can afford for insurance. Makes sense that the car manufacturers would go after that market competition being what it is today. And every time I see one more Camaro/Mustang street racing accident it puts one more nail in the coffin. Sad but true.
