Just want to get opinions. Goodyear Z rated tires that came with the Camaro. Factory set at 30psi when I picked up the car. According to the specs on the tire 44psi. Big difference. So what do you guys and gals all run for pressure? I understand the trade off between ride and gas economy but what about wear and handling?

30 psi is a bit soft for the OEM F1s. If I remember correctly, I used to run 34 or 35 PSI in that tire when I had them. 44 PSI is not a recommended tire pressure, but rather a number that should not be exceeded for safety reasons.

Best regardSS,

Elie

i remember i ran the 30 psi as rated on the door.

when i bumped it up 1,2,3 lbs, it made a big difference on handling and ride characteristics both in the negative.

i let the sidewalls down a little for racing [Big Grin]

I just run the air pressure that the factory recommends on the door jamb sticker. Remember those pressures are set when the tire is cold. [Smile]

Like to have a little stiffer ride so I set mine at 38 to 40. After getting out of the 2500HD its still like riding on a cloud [Smile]

30 PSI is what the factory spec is. 44 PSI is just the max the tire can handle.

It never hurts to play around with a few pounds of pressure to see how it works best on your car. The gauge you use may even be off a little so trying minor adjustments may help more than you think.

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

Thanks, for the comments so far. Kind of what I suspected. I've run them at 30psi since getting the car. When I was checking the tire pressure at the station today the helpful attendent suggested that 44psi is what I should be running on those tires. I said thank you and left it at that. I decided to check with a few others that actually own the cars instead of taking one persons opinion as fact.

There is a factory sticker on your drivers door for recommended tire pressure for normal everyday driving.

I always pay attention to the drivers side door recomendations on any car. That's what struck me as being wrong about the helpful attendents suggestion. I always run them at 30psi. Seems to be just fine. Still I was curious about what others might be doing and if so why. Again, thanks for the responses. Confirms what I already suspected. Mr Attendent didn't really know what he was talking about.
