................... [Frown] .Have one stuck in the duct work of the 1st floor bathroom. It has been there since Sunday that I know of and is still moving around. You are looking at about 80 feet of tubing that the bird has gone through to make its new home.

Dont want to go into the attic to try and get it out as getting to the duct is not that easy to get to. Dont want to be stuck in a 5X5 room with a pissed off bird either.

SO "How long can a Bird survive" [Confused]

Took the vent apart to the point where I can see the bird. There is NO way it can go backwards. It is right by the damper to keep the cold air out.

Luring it out will give it almost 2/3 rds of a 2900 sq. foot house to fly around in.

Wondering that if it gets out will it go back and try to get into the vents again?

It will probably dehydrate in about 2 days. Then
it will be too weak to move.

It will leave on it's own if given an exit
path.

My wife did Wildlife rescue for years. Birds,
rabbits, squirrels etc.

Ed I would rather have it die out in the house where I could throw it away than in the vent and smell forever long time

Well after a little I got it out and the bathroom put back together [Smile] . After I got the vent apart I quickly put a 5 gallon bucket over the hole and proped it up to the celing [Big Grin] .

Now if any body can answer...........Will the Stupid bird try and get back in through the vent. I dont want to go through this again. The vent is about 25/30 feet into the air and is not a quick and easy fix. Is there something I can spray to keep the birds away. I can reach out the upstairs bathroon window to spray something.

Awwwwww!!!! Good for him!! ...glad he got out unharmed!!

This vent you speak of....can you (or a hired hand) put screen mesh over it?? We had trouble with birds building nests down in the chimney on top of the damper....and you shoulda HEARD all the chirping as they grew older....that is, until we put screen over the top of the chimney....

Next time the Cute little Critter IS guna Die......

.....I allready bought a different type of vent.Looks like "CHIT" but will keep them out . All I need to do is get the neighbors 30 foot ladder to change the 2 vents. But that will be tomorrow after the rain [Frown]
