""1995 CAMARO Z28 UPGRADED WITH THE SS PACKAGE""

""Because it is titled as a Z28, the insurance is cheaper than if it were an SS, which would put it in the Corvette category.""

""It was in the minor fender bender and as a result of the lawsuit by the original owner the title includes the words "rebuilt salvage" The Airbags did not even deploy.""

I tried to be objective reading about the car. From the pictures alone, it looks pretty nice. But looks can be deceiving.

However:

I don't know what insurance company he uses, but mine doesn't charge that much more for SS vs. Z28 insurance premiums. Definitely not Corvette-sized for sure.

He's listing it for a friend, yet too many implications of he's 63 and the car was never driven by a younger person. It's too tough to tell if he's the real owner and "pretending" to sell it for someone else. If this 63 year old can have an email addy, why can't he put it on ebay himself? Hmmmm...smells like fish...

There's a lot of reasons for a salvage title, but the main one is obvious. Because of that, I'd run, not walk, away from this one. It's not like real SS's aren't falling out of the sky, which they are. For a bit more than 10k or so, you can get a real SS. Why settle for a clone?

If it were a ZL1 or Berger or Tom Henry car...maybe. But it's a 95 Z28 made into an SS clone. Big deal.

I have both an 02 Z28 and a 35th SS. As far as I know the insurance rating, in PA, is the same for both cars. It depends on price paid and miles driven a year. Insurance on my SS is actually less than the Z because I drive the SS less than 5,000 miles per year versus the Z witch I drive about 12,000 miles a year.

To cover my SS, I told the insurance company mine was a SS so there would not be any questions if I had to have a claim. [Smile]

Chevrolet did not even make a Camaro SS in 1995, so who knows what this guy is trying to pull. He should have called it an "SS Clone" to cover his but. Then again he is asking a lot of money for a car with a salvage title that usually will drop the cars value by 2/3.

mine is insured as a trans am, but the insurance company has a copy of the SLP Firehawk content. They do not charge me anything extra.

Something is fishy about the auction.

Insurance companies, for the most part, rate the car using the VIN number......an SS is a Z28 with the SS package......the VIN won't tell you that.

As to a 95 SS........don't think so! It's a clone.

Salvage title? Good luck......that dropped the value substantially unless:

A........you intend to keep the car until you die and
B....are going to be buried in it........

(hmmmmmmm...not a bad idea!)

That's how my insurance company has covered my SS. It's a Z28 using VIN ID. They had no listing, or rates, for an SS.

Same over here. I told the agent that is was an SS, he even saw the car and drooled, but the VIN described it as a Z28 so that's how it was rated.

If my 69 Vette would have been a 4spd with a 427 burial would have been the only exit strategy [Wink] [Wink]

Then you probably don't have State Farm. They asked me directly if it was an SS or Z28. I told them that the VIN was a Z28, but they have it in their listings "with SS option." They said it would be "slightly" more for the SS package, but only by a few dollars. Maybe it isn't supposed to, but they told me there was a difference.

Actually, We do have State Farm for our vehicle and home insurance. Perhaps the Canadian head office doesn't rate the SS since there are so few of them in Canada.

Allstate asks if its an SS also... and I told them. I've never had to use an insurance policy (knock on wood) but I didn't want a hassle if I needed to. I have not heard great things about Allstate so if I ever move at that time I may go with State Farm.....
