I think they forgot to paint my top and it has no shine at all

That's where the bubbling takes place, where the adhesive was applied to the roof. Here's a link to the pic's of my roof repair last year.

Thank goodness my car is still under warranty until the end of the month. talk about good timing to notice this problem. i have an appointment to meet with the dealer tomorrow. i have printed out the TSB and will let you know how it goes. got my fingers crossed.

well, i just got back from the dealer. the service manager looked at my hard top and agreed that there are definite bubbles in the paint. he read through the TSB and said that he would call GM on monday morning to get the approval and then order the new hard top. so the hard part is done, and that was convincing the Service Manager. i'm sure GM will honor it since there is a TSB out on it. still not out of the woods yet, but i can see the light at the end.

No, apparently not. Some have tried, but the glue will leach through the plastic roof again & blister the paint. The only way to properly repair the roof is to replace the roof panel with one that has been epoxy primed on the underside to seal the plastic.

We were told that the sun causes this condition more than anything else...can you confirm this....since my car stays in doors 90% of the time, just wondering if this could happen to mine. KICKBACKSS 2000SS 3100 ACTUAL MILES

I also would like to know, how do TSB's fit into warranty schedule? Are they independent of warranty, or what?
For example, my warranty is expired, but if my roof panel bubbles due to faulty glue stuff, can i still get it repainted?

Yes........I have a black 2000SS with 10,000 miles. It happened to mine at 9000 miles. And mine is always garaged too. Luckily they fixed mine even though my warranty had expired. I suggest you really look hard at yours now. Check the PDF mentioned above in the Links for the location of the adhesive. This is where it will start. When it first starts it looks more like a paint imperfection than bubbling. Mine looked like "lines" at exactly the points where the adhesive was applied. Then one day when my car had been out in the sun for most of the day, it really showed up!

My 2002 hardtop went bad with bubbles and my dealer cheerfully replaced the roof after I showed them the TSB.
They painted it the body color (NBM) and I had to make them paint it a second time in black paint but it turned out great.
Now, I know it's going to bubble again in a few years from the intense Mississippi sun but I will have to live with it.

I am in the same boat. After my car was outside all day for a car show the bubbles appeared. I hope to find an answer soon to see if I can get it fixed..

Good news, the dealer has ordered me a new top . i am not sure on the warranty schedule for paint issues. i know that rust/paint issues are up to 100,000 miles, but this is not a rust issue. i would assume that most dealers would not warranty this issue past the 3 yr/ 36000 mile warranty. for the most part, the people who have been complaining about this issue own '99 and newer camaros. do any '98 owners have this prob. because the TSB did not come out until early 2003. so, did GM do anything different on the '98 hardtops and T-tops to not make the bubbles appear?!?!
