Here's part of one they sent me...

quote:
We need to acquire several pre-owned Chevrolet Camaros by June 12, 2004, in order to fulfill special manufacturer requests. You have been identified as an owner of one of these vehicles and our new car managers have been authorized to buy back your current vehicle.

We would like you to trade-in your current vehicle for any new 2004 model vehicle. With factory incentives at their all time best and the highest trade in values in years, this may be the best time to save thousands of dollars on your next vehicle purchase. We feel confident that with your approved credit, you can make this transaction with little or no money down and with a monthly payment that fits your budget.

Before this part, it just states which dealership I am a previous customer of, and after this part it gives me times of this "event" and a phone number to call to make an appointment. Weird huh? What the heck does Chevy need with used Camaros? There is only one current Chevrolet car I'd EVER consider replacing my SS with. If they give me a Z06 for it with equal or less monthly payments than I currently make, then I'll think about it. But seeing as how that ain't happening, they aren't getting this Camaro!

Ok, what part of this advertisement gimmick don't you understand? [Big Grin]

The premise is simple: You trade in your car for a new one. They're just making it sound important.

If they really NEEDED Camaros...try this one...GO BUILD SOME NEW ONES CHEVROLET!!!! You're not getting mine! [Big Grin]

I figured it was just a gimmick to try and get me to buy a 2004. There is no return address, and it sounds to be from Chevy (Chevrolet Letterhead, and referring to Newsome Automotive in the 3rd person). I just thought it to be very odd how they say "in order to fulfill special manufacturer requests." They make it sound like GM has told them to have as many Camaros traded in as possible. I thought they saved the outright lying until you stepped onto the lot!

I would say it is an extreem stretch of the truth. For instance, "special manufacturing requests" means order volume to maintian their wholesale pricing levels and model selection.

They'll pay it off alright, as they roll it into the New loan! [Big Grin]

Its an advertisment from a dealer.... I get crap like that STILL from the 01 SS company car that I had. There are companies who pull info out of the dealers computer systems.... they can look at stuff like vehicle age/mileage etc. They must figure your due for a new car.....

EDIT: One thing I forgot... if you look close its not actually from GM, it should say on there somewhere.... GM doesn't send letters like that out to customers... and I should know.... [Wink]

this mailing has nothing to do with Chevrolet and quite frankly, we don't want any dealer sending something like this out that misleads.

I wouldn't do any serious business, like buying a car, with any dealer that mails you and asks you to trade in your car. That's kinda, umm, desperate it seems like.

This dealership seems to be nice, and I've had warranty work there, but they care much more about their BMW's and Mercedes than the Chevrolet vehicles it seems. They sell a bunch of trucks and SUV's, but that's about it as far as Chevy's go. You rarely ever see a Corvette, never a Z06, and when Camaros were in their last years I saw ONE SS there and ONE Z28 there! When I go to look at another vehicle, it'll be at a dealership in Columbia that handles only GM products (if, of course, I purchase GM [Wink] ).

I have gotten a number of calls. All from the same dealership. I have told them multiple times to go to hell. evidently, their memory is short.

I get cards and letters all the time from my dealer but am going to wait a little longer and see how the Monte Carlo SS looks like in a couple of years. [Cool]
