Wasn’t it great to see the respect to a man displayed in such a great form. There is nothing like a military funeral to show how the funeral of one should be done. They did a great job, Also notice how clean the cars are in the procession.. There is many things that people could learn from this great mans death. EVERYONE Deserves respect on the day that their being laid to rest. Not just a past president, not just people that have served in our military.. Everyone!
Now you may be asking what is up with me today? Well I drive a hearse everyday, I carry caskets everyday, I am in the presence of someone’s deceased love one everyday, and you would be surprised how many people are rude and could care less about that respect for the dead. It never fails, people cut in to our funeral processions, get so pi$$ed when they have to stop and be unconvinced by the procession. It is really sad. Next I may be traveling from say Indy or from out of town, coming from a hospital or from a nursing home, I will be driving the hearse, I may only go 55-57 on the highway and slow down a lot earlier than you or take turns a little slower.. Please don’t get mad, I am trying my best to take the best care of someone’s loved one. I know that you are in a hurry to get to something that is life or death but please be patient. I know a lot of you are thinking that I am taking this too far but, some day it may be your loved one that I am bringing home and I know that you would want them to be cared for the best of my ability. I try to treat every one I pick up as if it where my Mother, that I picked up last year after her fight with emphysema. Some days you have the exceptions, Workers on the street that stop what they are doing, and lower their hats as a funeral procession passes by. Or just a nod from a driver in a car next to me at a stop light at 3am, it is almost like a thank you.. I have said enough, just think when you see that hearse in a funeral procession or running down the highway at 1 am in a snow storm, and I hope that the first word you think of is Respect..

Well put. Although it's not law, I pull to the side of the road, if safe to do so (I don't want to end up like them), in respect for a passing funeral. It's kind of like a time-honored tradition here in the South. People that simply drive by get a scowl from me.
I don't have any idea who those people are 99% of the time, but they deserve my respect as they lay their loved ones to rest. I often wonder if it was a peaceful death, from God's hand, or was it some needless, violent act of aggression or other non-natural death. Either way, they all end up the same. Their suffering is over, but always leaving someone behind to grieve over them.

Not EVERYONE deserves respect. You have to earn it. Everyone dies, not everyone earns respect. Not picking, but child molesters, rapists, thieves, I think you get my point. I agree every hard working honest citizen does deserve respect alive or dead...
I am not trying to pick I do understand your point, just in my lifes exprience there are people who earn nothing, just take.

Good point. And that would be so IF I know who they are and they were some sort of useless piece of flesh. But without knowing who it is, it's a default mode of respect for the dead and their families.
