Someone during the winter bought or nearly bought what they thought was an SS from a dealer and then discovered it was not via the door option codes. A sharp looking Navy blue one just appeared here in town for sale with very low mileage. I was looking for the SLP door stickers to see the options and the car did not have any. [Confused] My SS has all the available SLP options listed on separate stickers inside the door. Why didn't this one have it? What was the GM RPO option code for this car? We would like to know cuz someone in the group here may be interested. I can't remember for the life of me. [Frown] Thanks! [Smile]

For the 2000 SS the RPO code should be a WU8 even if there are no SLP options on the car. [Smile]

to add, no SLP sticker if the car was not ordered with SLP second sticker content.

It will only have RPO code WU8 on the GM sticker on the drivers door.

We were the ones that purchased the clone back in late November. Like everyone says...look for the WU8! There's also two more stickers with SLP "stuff" on our 2002...one on the driver's door and one on the passenger door. Don't know if 2000 is the same...

We haven't received our LofA (a great time for all of us who haven't to practice our patience!), and to be honest, I won't be convinced until I see that. (But I'm 90% there!)

Yes now I remember reading your experience. I'll advise whoever wants the car to look for that. Thanks. Any reason the car would not have the SLP stickers on the door or fan shroud? Mine has a sticker on each door with the passenger side one listing all the options.? [Confused]

A true SS does not have to have SLP stickers on the door. The only way it would have an SLP sticker is if they ordered the Y2Y code which would allow them to get SLP content on their car..
If they just ordered and SS with no SLP options then the car would not have an SLP door sticker..
It still could be a real SS just with no SLP options..

ok so 2 codes now we are up to. WU8 and Y2Y. The car has a hurst shifter. It has a leather wrapped nob with the H on the top. Was this standard or optional?

It was a GM option.

Edit: It also could be aftermarket, look for the option code on the door, I think it is BBS.

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

The car could have been ordered by a dealer who had no clue like mine. He didn't order the Y2Y content that I signed off for when the car was ordered. Instead they ordered the parts seperately from SLP. When the car was delivered, the dealer told me they had a "shortage" of wheels and grilles so they are being shipped seperately. A call to SLP confirmed that the content wasn't ordered with the car. So now I don't have a second SLP Content sticker, SLP has no record of me having those options and my Birth Certificate reads "SS Base". On the plus side, I did get those items at dealer cost. The RPO code WU8 is the key. That makes it an SS.

My 2000 SS has no SLP door sticker as it has no additional SLP content. However, it has both RPO's WU8 and Y2Y. Back on the SLP board, I posted my VIN and got my build number, assuring me it was an SS even without the SLP sticker.

some dealers were adding the y2y code when ordering the car in case you wanted to add options after ordering the car. if the order was placed w/o y2y, you couldnt add slp content.
