thinking of changing grills, but I want to be able to use my stock one again if need be. Is there a way to take it out so that you can just go back in? Thanks

I would suggest to remove the front bumper cover to remove the grill without any damage to the mounting studs. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

What he said! Just remove the front bumper cover, and carefully remove the clips. That way you can reinstall it later without any damaged parts. Good luck!

When (or if) you do reinstall, you will have to remove the bumper cover again. If you are removing the old grille the pull and yank method worked for me with no damage to the grille or fascia (and I believe this is also how SLP did it at the factory if they installed the SLP SS grille).

I was able to get the upper nuts off by slipping a thin shaft screwdriver through the slot where the stud goes through and working it off from the front.

I did it similar to DaddySS. I loosed the bottom of the bumper cover and reached in with a screwdriver and loosened the clips. No damage and everything is able to go back to stock if desired.

I did the Yank and the posts are still perfect. Although it really didn't matter, the dealer had drilled it for the license plate bracket. Posts: 343 | From: Castle Rock, CO | Registered: Jun 2002

Yeah, real nice how the dealerships manage to ruin both the grille AND the front fascia by drilling through them, isn't it?
Around here, the only SLP option CARR Chevrolet ordered on their SS's was the SS Grille ($249) and them proceeded to ruin it by riveting the license plate bracket to it! Dumbasses! What on earth were they thinking?

Luckily for me when I bought my 35th LE used, they never but a bracket on, which is very odd since it is the law here in VA.
