I read that a few days ago. Kinda sounds like it's a done deal.

That's good to hear. I only hope I can hold out without having to buy a Mustang or another competitor first. If GM announces something soon on an official basis, that will certainly help. But I don't want to see 2007 turn into 2008 or 2009. By then I will be ready for a Power Scooter from the Scooter Store instead.

Before everyone gets too excited about this let me ask something. No one knows what the camaro will be when it comes back. Everyone agrees it should be RWD and V-8 powered. However, the only thing we know for sure is it will be different then what it is today. After all, it didn't sell well and it wouldn't meet new crash standards so they have to change it. I am sure if it comes back then some will like it and some will hate it but think about this. If they had released the GTO as a camaro would you have liked it better then you do. Or would you have thought GM did a great diservice to the name Camaro? I mean the GTO is V-8 and rear wheel drive so it meets the requirements most people mention. It just seems sometimes people get caught up hearing it is coming back like they are going to bring back the same car. Really what will happen (if it does) is sometime in the future chevy will build a new V-8 RWD car and maybe they call it a camaro. Does it really matter what they call the car after all it will be a different car? Personally, I don't think it will happen in 07.

Interesting points. No doubt a new platform will have to appeal to a wider market segment than the previous one did.
Alot of factors come into play... what demographic will they be targeting? What price segment are they targeting, etc, etc.

odds are they are not targeting the performance enthusiasts soley... that's what pretty much killed the car no one bought it except performance enthusiasts and car rental companies
look for styling to be subdued, to reach a broader market range, but with enough styling (as in Chevrolet's perspective) to call it camaro, and that is where the future debate will be about (how much styling - too much or too little)

When the new Camaro comes out, there will be PLENTY of arguments on both sides of the fence.
