I know but there are people here that can tell the story wayyyyyy better than I. It was for a car show in INDY. I have one of the plates :)but mine was a legal one to use in Indiana..

Maybe DougH will chime in and have a few tidbits

If I'm not mistaken,,,the 1996 is the build # of the car..something they did for a special show....could be wrong, but I think that was it.

Those plates were used on all the event vehicles at Indy for the brickyard including all the brickyard 35th pace cars for parades and shows...they were actual registered with them.

Greg has his as his avatar. I still have been looking to find one to add to my collection of 35th goodies...if anyone has one they want to sell, or know of someone that may, please email me.

That plate was probably made up as an extra for the 2002 Brickyard 400 event. The Z7D Brickyard 400 SS Camaros all had a plate just like that with the car # on it and one with the race logo with the car # on it. Howard had several plates made up for the event and many were used on all of the support vehicles and some were just extras.

Here is the plates from a rare 6 speed Brickyard 400 SS Camaro that B.J. from the Camaro Legends Tour owns.

Al, when Howard was at my house last year for the EMCC Christmas Party, he had several of the extra plates for sale. He may still have some left over.I have not heard from him so I do not know if he is going to Camaro Superfest in a couple of weeks.

Here is what my plates look like.

Thanks Greg, I had shown the my plate above to another 35th owner and he had never seen them and wanted the story behind them. I knew you would know! :-)

I've seen a 1967 and 1982 plate also, looks like one was done for every year that the Camaro was a pace car. The last time I talked to Howard about buying a plate from him he wanted between 500 to 1000 for one. I would love to have the Z7D plate he has
