Bill, you are going to have to give me some tips! Since I just got laid off from my job, I started a company called Detail Driven. Detailing is a start and I need to learn how to do it right!

This car was $130, it was in great shape. I dont have flat fees, Every car is different I do this becouse I love cars and can take my time and do the best that can be done. I dont do alot of cars, but the ones I do are people that dont mind paying. I am not out to get rich, I would do it for free if I could. There is nothing better than a nice clean car, it is in my blood, My dad is the same way:) I have been "washin" cars since I was 10...

ok so how long does it take you to do this??? ....so far, takes me like 2 days to do all that and my car is CLEAN by most standards (mebbe not by Mr. 2002Z4CSS....)!!!

Well... today I started at about 8:30am and got done about 2. I work at a good pace but I don’t kill myself. I also took a lunch break... I would say 6-7 hours would be an average. Most I ever took was on a Caddy that took 10 hours and I did it at night.. ugg that wasn’t fun …

Bill makes a really good point. If you get a car that's already in good shape, the job is so much easier. I've been doing some detailing on the side too and thus far all of my customers have brought me very, very heavily soiled vehicles. I spend more time prepping the car for wax than anything else and because I'm very fussy myself, I'll spend several hours just getting it to the point where wax can be applied. A detail job like Bill describes would take me a solid 10-12 hours to do on the types of cars I've done so far(All SUV's and Minivans).
Autopia.org is an awesome source of info. I've only recently become acquainted with the site, but already I've found a real wealth of material there to absorb and learn. If you really want to learn how to properly detail a car, this is a good place to go.

I dont do cars that are trashed, no 1988 beater cars, No superdooper extedo Van with 3 month old milk staining the seats & M&M's melted to the carpets. Can I clean them? Yes Do I.. NO! I use to work at a "Detail shop" And we did cars like that everyday, it sucked.. I hated it. these people dont care about there cars, to me that is not worth my sweat for 12-15 hours so that they can go and have it back the same way in a week.... Bla No thanks

Yup been speding a lot of time on Autopia, founf links with good places to get good buffing pads there. Very goood info, but "knowing" you means I have a lot more faith in what you say! Both you and AGMSS have been a great help. I truly appreciate it.
For as much as you do, I would chage 250-300 here. That is on a car that is decent but not perfect.
