the engine in my 2001 camaro ss was recently replaced. the car came back without a plastic cover (black) that covered the engine (area nearest the windshield). the dealer acts like there was never anything there and no one can figure out where this after factory item can be purchased. it is similar to the one on the corvette and said camaro (in red) on both sides. this is frustrating beyond belief. does anyone know what i'm describing and where it can be purchased?

Are you talking about fuel rail covers?

Were they on there you took it in? Did you put them on? The reason I ask is because they are not something GM puts on, but if you put them on then they are aftermarket and the dealer should have atleast given them back to you if they did not put them back on.

Dale

this was a plastic piece, black, and covered the part of the engine near the windshield
(the engine block?) It was on when I took it in and I did not put it on. It came that way.
Absolutely no one knows what I'm talking about. Again, it is like the one on the corvette. Help??

Hi there!
I would suggest you put this on the main discussion board as well, as there seemed to be little response here. other than that, you could email David Hamburger directly.

No pictures.
I had no idea this was an other than stock item. I'm trying to find out why and where this cover was added to my ss. I'm wondering if it is going to be a stock item on the 35th anniversary edition.

It sounds like you're talking about fuel rail covers... they aren't a stock item on the f-bodies. Sounds like your dealer kept them. You can buy them from any GM dealer but they have to be modified becauase they all say Corvette on them (I think) and they also have to be cut in some places to fit an f-body.

As far as I know they aren't offered on the 35th SS.

Your talking about Fuel Rail covers which do not come standard. I found a site that sells them though. This is the only place I've found that specifically makes them for the F-Bodys.

Check out this link to the photos page of my website. It shows my fuel rail covers that say Camaro in red on them. Is this what you are talking about???
http://www.derekc.cz28.com/photo.html

If they are EXACTLY like yours there was a guy from the SSOA that had them made for us and a few of us got them. I haven't seen any like them from anyone else but I am sure they can be made.
