count me in the ss ragtop club.. as i build this machine up from stock.my first time at the strip this sunday will ruffle my feathers for sure to start doing upgrades to this fine SS ..now the main person i am to race, has the auto trans 94 z/28 w/ nitrous. now, my 11 second freind says i can beat him..im not so sure..i have missed a few shifts its allways second to third..tonite after work i hit the backroads and practiced..i learned that at hi rpm i have to just slam it hard into third to avoid the miss shift...i just hate to beat on this car..i tried it 3 times it worked everytime as long as i jammed the hurst up into 3rd rpms about 4 at shift time..im so upset w/ this guy. lol i knew him from high school he told me that the cowl induction was fake... on my car.. he is a real bragger about the fastest camaro in town..this is a freindly race amongst many freinds.. sure i am i worked alot for all my cars..i can put a small block together w/ the right tools ijust dont have em anymore ,or the time to work on the old chevy 327 what an engine one of the best gm small blocks i still have it..w/ a 2 speed power glide.. if worse comes to worse i will go serious racing w/ an oldie, chop it up and rebuild..i do miss turning wrenches...but..the new 2000 ss rag i dont have to,it is built for speed, sure the price tag was high...but i feel i have the best SS i have owned..thanks to you guys i have alot of upgrade websites to look at for perfomance parts...my dream is to put a blower on it..remember its a dream..they are available i have found..$.. in time im very optimistic..alot can be done w/ the right stuff..one ?...how do you post a picture of the cars here..?..im NEWBY to the pc world..i have some nice pics of my car...ty all..jk2000rag

Hey JK -

I have the 6-speed in my 2000 convertible too. I found that after I had about 1800 miles on it, that shift into 3rd got a lot easier. I guess it had to get broken in a little. I've also found that the engine likes to mid-high end of the power band. So, I shift into the next gear at about 5800 rpm at the strip. I snag them pretty hard to make sure I don't miss a shift too.

If your buddy has an 11-second car using nitrous, if he uses the nitrous, you won't beat him if your car is stock. With a stock 6-speed, you'll probably pull around high 13s - low 14s. But, that all depends on where you live (altitude, temperature, track conditions, etc).

Anyway, have fun at the track this weekend. You'll have fun win or lose. But you will want to put more stuff on the car after you're done.

As far as posting pictures, I signed up for Yahoo photos. There, it's real easy to upload digital pictures. Then you only have to post a link to your photo page. Here's mine: http://photos.yahoo.com/reddogcamaross

You can also put the pictures up on your own web server and post a link to the picture. I have put some videos up on the internet of my car. If you want to see them, a friend put them up on his web server for me. Here they are: http://another.dimension.net/efa

Look for the ones with the name Doug on them.

... also remember that if a guy does a hundred 12.5 runs and manages to pull a single 11.99 under perfect conditions, his car will always be "in the elevens"

Keep running him till he runs out of nitrous, then see how he does
