You might scan the list at http://www.ba-f-body.org/places.htm - it's our recommended vendors & mechanics. Suspension stuff, though, you're better off doing it yourself, or with a friend, if at all possible.

Regarding Ralph's Hotrod Heaven, two comments and a short tale...

comment 2: i have no idea what his work is like since after a nearly 5 hour delay i left without him even looking at my car.
the short tale: i had a 3pm appointment for a "45 minute" job (KBDD SFC installation), made several weeks in advance. i drove in two hours of stall 'n crawl Highway 80 traffic to leave off the car at about 2:30. he was obviously running behind on a major suspension upgrade, but the family and i were off to Old Sacramento for a day of tourist impersonations anyway, so i figured we'd pick it up on the way home. when i called in at 5:30, i was told he hadn't started yet, but would do so in about 15 minutes, then an hour for the job. the taxi dropped us off an hour and a half later (in the middle of nowhere,) at 7pm. there was my, vert, right were i'd left it. my 3 year old was sleeping, my wife had a **** fit, and i was told he'd be ready to start my car in about 15 minutes. 15 minutes later i noticed that he was starting on the LCA's (of the the other guy's car, that is.) i asked if the LCA's were the last thing he had to do. guess what the answer was? "no, but he'll be done in about 15 minutes."
so at a little before 8pm, i collected my keys and we left. good thing, too, since the little one only had enough nap left in him to get us back to the Bay Bridge.
anyway - we had a great day in Sacramento. Ralph only cost me about an hour and a half, $70 in cab fare, and a slightly cramped roadtrip since we didn't take the family wagon. I highly recommend the California State Railroad Museum (you think we run some fancy motors?, well...), including the 40 minute ride behind an old tank engine. Also, the 50-minute horse-drawn carriage ride to the Capital and back is pretty cool, especially if you're 3 years old.
As for Ralph's....
