Hey there boys...

Im getting gears, LCAs & relocation brackets installed this weekend- what have you all seen for results (in ET) with these mods? I got the 4.10s (M6).

Also, what do you suggest my next mod is? I plan on FLP Headers down the road, but thats a little pricy for me right this moment.

Thanks!

-George

I put in new LCA's to increase stability and help with roome around my 315's and added relocation brackets because the car was lowered.
not sure why you would add them onto a non-lowered car, willl screw up the rear geometry

no real increase the ET's

4.10 may slow you down as you may have an extra ****f into 5th to cross the line depends on your current times and cam/head combo.

Also prone to breaking in poor launches.

Don't mean to discourage you - take it to the track and tell us what happens.

I stayed with my 3.42's but I cross the line in the 120 range

First of all:
LCA relocation brackets WILL help level the LCA's under squat and are KNOWN to decrease your 1/4 time by ~0.1s on a stock set up. lowered cars need this even more, but so do stock 4th gens. GM did a good job for daily drivers, but to prevent wheel hop, and increase weight transfer to the wheels, you'll like the LCA relocation brackets alot. They won't screw up your geometry.

Second:
4.10's won't require shifting into 5th unless you're running ~110mph trap speeds. You're car will have no problems here.

IF you plan on running that in the future, you may want to go with 3.73:1 gears instead. Plus you highway RPMS won't climb as much as with the 4.10's.

I'd wager a 0.2s to 0.3s loss. all things being equal (stock cam, proper shifting, etc...).

Yep, headers would be nexted hp-wise. Time to save some $$$. Before that though, I'd consider Kenny Brown DD SFC's for ~$275. Better for the strip, track AND streets.

Always good to learn something - I thought that if you required relocation brackets to correct the geometry on a lowered car then installing it on a non lowered car would car would make that geometry incorrect. Screw it up was to strong a term - But, if you don't have wheel hop now I don't see that much benefit,

I agree wuith Steve that 3.73 are a better option than 4.10 - if you plan on incresing power down the road. I stayed with 3.42 since there isn't much to gain in going to 3.73 for the $$.

Headers are a great ides, A new shifter is a must - if not already done, I have a B&M ripped on my M6 and am very happy with it.

Non power mods you should consider: STB, KB DD SFC, tires are always a good bu for the track - power is nice but traction is required.

Hey, thanks a lot guys.

I know the relocation brackets are definatly subject to a lot of opinions. I havent decided if Ill lower the car or not yet, but at least Ill be covered if I do. Im not sure if I want to deal with clearance once I do headers. I have no intention of making this car a track queen.... just a b@d@$$ cruiser

The main reason I went with them, was purely off reccomendations from several people on f-body.com A gentleman on that board is running low 11's, and swears by relo brackets. Another guy I know out here in Colorado put them on his Z28 (stock suspension), and said all wheel hop completely dissappeared after doing so. He put the LCAs in 1st, and he said they helped substantially- but every now and then- the axel would still hop, depending on what type of surface he was launching on... usually, at the track. He put the brackets on, and eliviated that all together. So, I decided to get them. Hell- I only paid $80 for them... whats the harm? The gent whos installing them for me (@ S&S Motorsports in Aurora CO) kinda looked at me funny too- but he was like, "What the hay- we'll install em and see what happens".

Ya, haha- I really doubt Ill be hitting 5th anytime soon. Another thing to consider, is I am in Denver and race @5800 ft elevation. As it sits right now, I can go through the gates at the VERY top of 3rd gear if I hold out (@95MPH). It'll bounce off the limiter every now and then.... depends on how my 60 ft was. Better times usually come of shifting to 4th. Point is, I have an entire gear to go through, so, no worries. Im thinking of doing 1.6 rr's, so, that would give me a couple hundred more RPMs anyhow. I have the HPP3, so, I can adjust the rev limiter.

Good call, on the SFC's. I think Ill do that next. Shifter is another good one- I hate the stock'r. I think Ill do those 2, and the 1.6 rr's. Ive heard a lot of good response about those.

Thanks again guys! THat helped a lot!
