John,

I hope you don't mind me reposting this as a new topic.

quote:
As weather here in Texas is top down freindly these days. I've been able to spend quite a bit of time test driving the Windstop on my car. I have been pleasantly surprised at the difference the WindStop makes in reducing buffeting inside the car with the top down. Its benefits are most noticeable at speeds in excess of 55 MPH. I've driven the car up to 80 MPH on the freeway and wind buffeting in the car at that speed is significantly reduced. I tested the device by placing some loose paper in the front passenger side seat. With the WindStop installed, the papers remained in the seat and did not blow around. It performed the same test with the WindStop uninstalled and the papers floated around in the car from the buffeting. Windows up and down driving are generally quieter with the WindStop in place.

I put the WindStop back on last night and drove the car with it on again last evening and all day today. The device came off and reinstalled (by myself) easily and had no difficulty handling it during the process. It took just a couple minutes to pull it off and it went back on even quicker. With some practice, I would say the average adult person should be able to install and uninstall in no more than a couple minutes. Only one little negative note, I've noticed a very small friction spot on the plastic facia where the Windstop connects to the bracket. I think this friction point can be avoided by adjusting the mounting bracket just a bit higher.

I've gotten some very positive feedback from several people while out and about. So, far no comments have been negative. In fact, I was at local Chevrolet dealership today talking to visit a freind whose a salesman there. I showed it to him. His eyes perked up and wanted to know where I got it. He thinks he could sell quite a few of them. I told him it was not mine that I was only "test driving" the unit but would ask you if I could give him your name and phone number. As I was leaving the dealership, an older gentleman drove up next to me on the parking lot and asked me where I go it. He stated he has a late model Camaro vert and would like to get one too.

So, my initial opinion is very favorable and would recommend the WindStop to my fellow FBody vert collegues. Two thumbs up for sure!!

John

Hello fellow 'Verters,

Are you still arranging a GP on the Windstop? I might be interested. The regular price at 'Afterthoughts' is $195. What would the discount be on the GP? IMHO, a 15% discount would be appropriate if we had at least 5 people interested.

BTW, I am not a SSOA member. Would I still be able to get in on your GP for the Windstop?

Afterthoughts Auto is offering the price without requiring a Group Purchase. This is from the other thread ..

quote:
For 5-9 orders they will be $210.
For 10 or more they will be $195.

I don't know if the discount they normally offer to SSOA members still applies at this price.

Deanne? Teri?

$279 regular price at 'SeriousAuto'

Geeze if Deanne can let it go for $195 and still make a profit, then SeriousAuto is being a tad greedy! $84 profit on top of profit....

Deanne? Teri?

I can't speak for Deanne, but I'm not aware of any additional discount. Maybe she'll see this and answer that question.

Hi. Sorry we haven't jumped in this post sooner. The Christmas season is becoming a little crazy. Anyway...to answer some questions we really don't have any more room in the price of the Windstop for further discounts. Although anyone can purchase it for the $195.00 price on our site, we pretty much tracked it down for the SSOA members after Teri mentioned it to us. We figured since it was mostly SSOA members who were interested in it there was no sense in putting a higher price on it and then giving a discount or requiring a group purchase. Especially when some owners wanted to wait until early spring to purchase one.

To be able to offer them for $195.00 we had to agree to buy them in lots of at least 10. So we've priced it at group purchase prices right off the bat...but w/o requiring the group committment.

We received an initial supply of 2 and have already sold those. We expect our stocking order sometime late January/February. They are coming from Germany. We suggest that if you are interested in one you go ahead and complete your order and we'll place it on hold until they are in stock.

We do have one special to offer....All orders received before our stocking order arrives will be placed in a drawing to receive a FREE Windstop. This is the Demo unit provided to us by our supplier. It has been previously installed for demo purposes, but is still in like new condition.

Like always, no cards will be charged until we have the items in stock and they are ready to ship to you.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions. BTW...the new pictures of the Windstop on John's car are posted on the site now. Shows how it looks with the boot in place and everything back together. Nice car too.

Thanks,

A little update on our Windstops purchase order...

We ran into a slight delay when the U.S. based distributor decided we had to prepurchase and stock 50 of these as opposed to our original understanding of being able to purchase 10 at a time. So...while we were trying to change their mind the Windstops weren't being assembled or shipped. We finally worked out all the details directly with the manufacturer in Germany and will be importing them directly from Germany rather than going through the distributor. They have begun assembling the Windstops and will be shipping our first 10 as soon as possible. Assembly isn't suppose to take long because they already have all the parts. We are still hopeful that we will have them in stock by mid February.

After our first shipment arrives and we complete the current orders, we will be forced to raise the price $15-$20 to off-set some unexpected import costs. You still have time to get your Camaro/Firebird Windstop at the introductory price of $195.00.

We are still doing the Windstop Give-Away! When our first shipment arrives we will draw a name from our pending customer orders and the winner gets a FREE Windstop.

We know everyone who ordered one is anxious and we are really leaning on them to hurry. We'll post another update soon...hopefully when we are told they have shipped.

For those who ordered, thanks for your patience. Sometimes these new deals develop slight glitches.

Deanne

Sorry to hear about your problems with the distributer. Sounds like they were trying get more money from you since you were able to get the items directly. As an early purchaser, I'm looking forward to receiving my WindStop. As the weather was so good here in Richmond yesterday, I could have used mine. BUT don't worry, I will wait however long it takes.

Deanne,

Thanks very much for the update!

Sorry to hear that the distributor has reneged on the original agreement of 10 units.

There's no big rush for my Windstop as the SS is in the garage most of the time until April.
