Vettes are very sweet. If you like it, and it's in good condition, then go for it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LT4 only came in the ZR-1 Corvette. Overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder.

Your buddy's 96 Vette should have the LT1 engine.

Make sure you know all about OptiSpark when you buy his car, you're guaranteed to be working on it.

Happy driving,

Your thinking of the LT-5.That is the one with four valves per cylinder etc.The LT-4 is very similar to the LT-1(Main differences in the heads/intake manifold/cam).

The 96 collectors edition is a pretty rare car (dont know production #'s). We have a friend who owns one, and loves it. I believe they were only available in convertible form, too?! Sounds like a cool car. I would love to have a grand sport (same car, except coupe form, and awesome color scheme). Either way, enjoy the car!

And the ZR-1 had the LT-5 w/DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, etc. They were only made 1990-1995 though, then they came out with the LT-4 in 1996, only in the grand sports and collectors editions, all with 6speeds(I believe).

In 96 all 6 speeds were LT-4, They came in all 1000 grand sports, collector editions had some , and regular ones had some ,convertible's or coupe's had them if it is a 96 and a 6 speed it is a LT-4. If this car is mint I would jump all over it they are hard to find they only made 5000 or so LT-4's, 96 was the only year for the LT-4 , I have been looking for 2 years for a mint one with low miles and either the owner is out of his mind on price or the dealer is.I miss not owning a vette had them since I was 18 had a 80,94,99 then the kids came needed a back seat so I ended up selling the 99 vette to get what I have now and I made a great choice love this car ,but miss the vette . Good luck on your choice if you dont give me his name and number and price. And I will have to make a deal with the wife again. But I will always keep this T/A I love it.
