Friday's Car Club Challenge saw my best racing this season!

I managed a 14.508 on a 14.500 dial-in for the second round. With a 0.523 RT, it gave me a 0.031s total package! That may not be good for the hard-core guys, but for this rookie it seemed like a miracle.

Trying not to fall flat on my face, your's truely cut a perfect 0.500 light the next round! Easily the best racing day I've had all season.

Unfortunately I was a bit confused, thinking I had a by in the next round. Knowing that my last run was on the breaks hard, and the temperature was dropping, I was concentrating on a good 60' and ET to adjust my dial-in for the 1/4 finals. After my burnout, a "straggler" came running up to the line to race me? Ok, I don't mind him running next to me I thought.

Sleeping at at 0.922 light the bird ran 14.412 on a 14.380 dial in. Then I heard the announcement... oh man was I shocked... it WAS a race, there were no bys in this round.

Sad part is, just a 0.817 RT would have done it. *sigh* Lesson Learnt... ALL bys are solo runs, Test&Tune or other groups arn't paird up with us to save time. (Apparently the 8086 DOS 2.0 timing computer can't run 2 bys at the same time! lol)

In the end, Team NW Fbody did manage to win it all... that's 4 races in a row ... and are only 2 points out of the lead with 3 races remaining in the CCC.

oh yeah... BTW it was over 80*F, so I know she'd run better than 14.41 when its cool

Maybe I should invest in at least a cat back though.

Yeah, I've thought about it. Too bad my opponent had problems with his run... I was on the brakes so hard I posted a 15.0xx at ~65mph

Maybe I'll put it'm both in the frame just to appear consistant

'97 TA ragtop. SFC's help with weight transfer, but add a little weight. No hp-mods to speek of, excpet for the CAI I guess.

Everyone there was running about 0.3/0.4 slower than normal. That would fit about right with my car i'd imagine.

Looking for a 14.00 this Saturday. [Smile] (13's will get me kicked off the track [Frown] , need to get a 5-point roll bar to weld in).

Ahh.. I thought you had an LS1 car... that sounded a bit off.

I ran consistant 14.2's (at sea level, I live in denver though)in Ohio with just a muffler, and a K&N CAI. Best was 14.12

Now, with all mods below, Im running 13.37. I think most of that was with gears. [Big Grin]

So, your mid-low 14's sound right for a stock drop-top.

Well, I spent another day at the track yesterday. Best run was 14.365 @ 98.81... personal best, yet still a bit slower than I think I can wrench outta her. I heard a few guys mention they were about .1 to .2 seconds back of a typical "good" day (cool/dry). Temps were between 72 and 65*F. Humidity was as high as 74%.

Good part is I cut 0.5xx R/T's on all my runs. (.518 best) [Big Grin] , the bad news was that I only took 3 runs. [Frown] The first 2 were time-trials, the third was the first round of elliminations, which I for some reason decided to find 1st gear instead of 3rd. [Eek!] Thankfully everything sounds and runs fine. Glad I don't have a LS1 right now. [Smile]

I had the option of running Test & Tune for the rest of the day, but considering the missed shift, which I've never done in a race, I figured I shouldn't push my luck.

I'm sure she's got a 14.2 in her if I get a cool/dry day. Powershifting a bit more might help as well (I still find myself lifting a bit between shifts...). Ditching these worn 27,000 mile Nittos for fresh meats will deffiently help with my 2.0+ 60 foot times though. [Smile]
