Went to Richmond Dragway to watch a friend run and decided to take the vert since it was only $3 more to run the 1/4 than spectate.
I pulled my seats and ran a set of skinny's with 17x11 ZR1's and 315 Nitto's out back. I decided to conduct a little experiment since some internet drag racing experts think weight doesn't effect mph (at least with my car). I went from 116.86 to 117.99 mph. I would guess race weight was about 3700 (no scales) anyway here's the slip all new bests down to my RT

James has them on his camera Chris. Don't know when they will become available. I'd like to see them myself. Never saw my car go down the track other than when my wife shot a vid in night shot mode.....everything looked GREEN! LOL
My car leaves the line kind of soft compared to a lot of 11 second cars. I bogged just a bit on launch don't know if you can tell on vid. Some slight hesitation on the throttle. That happens every time I stick the launch even at 2000rpm. It surprises me a bit and I have to get past that and hammer down the throttle but I only get one run every time I go out so it's hard to get it right. I don't even practice on the street since I'm still running my stock rear.
James' car is the impressive one. You can definitely hear it banging the rev limiter several times and he still runs 11.4 That's insane!

Awesome times and mph! Kicked out for no rollbar. Must be a NHRA track because the local 1/4 mile track near me is IHRA and you can run no faster than 11.50 et. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Check out Gary's car again, its a 'vert. I believe 13.99 and quicker calls for a rollbar with convertibles.
Nice run, congrats again Gary. If you get a hold of your video, and/or James' video....let me know. I can get them hosted.

That is correct but I have ran many 13.40's in my vert and at different NHRA and IHRA tracks and no one said anything. Just had to have a Snell approved helmet. Just about any 1998-2002 Z28 or SS convertible will break the 13.99 et bone stock. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

Yeah that's how it was for me as well with the local tracks. Never said much at all while I was in the 13's. I got stopped once and thought I was going to get the boot but they wanted to make sure I had my helmet. That was for a 13.7 or so. When you get to the 12's and then start breaking the rules by 2 full seconds you tend to get their attention though some tracks I hear you can run without problems no matter how fast you go right Darren.
Congrats on your nice runs. Posts: 72 | From: Portsmouth, Virginia | Registered: Apr 2000

Thaaaaaaats right.
Speaking of rollbars and convertibles, one of the more memorable runs I have seen Gary make was at Englishtown during SLP Day 2. They are stict on the NHRA regulations there, so a 13 second 'vert gets the boot. Well, Garys car ran some consistant low 13's at the time, and on his first pass he tapped the brakes at the traps.......and ran a 14.00.
Gary I know you remember that well. That was also a day of many 14 and 15 second LS1's.

LOL, yeah 14.001 to be exact. The day I was dubbed the "LS1 Killa" (by an LS1 owner- Big Bake).
They let me run without warning until we started bracket racing then the spotter at the tree tapped on my window and told me I could only run 14.0's. The guy in the other lane dialed in a 14.0 too so it was on from there. I also remember blowing it 3 rounds later. Oh well.
Remember the 14.xx ZO6's? They all got better after a few runs but those first few passes were u g l y Posts: 72 | From: Portsmouth, Virginia | Registered: Apr 2000
