After using Amsoil Synthetics for the past several months, I thought it was time to update results. My 2000SS M-6, has picked up an additional 40 miles from a tank of gas, it runs 10 degrees cooler, cranks easier and can run 10,000 miles between changes. The oil and filter combination works extremely well. Now have Amsoil in all our motors, all six of them, boat, truck, (2) luminas and the SS. Also have changed all the other fluids as well, rear, transmission etc; 2000SS Dark Blue Met. with Tan Leather Int. Couple of questions: Do you have actual mpg calculations and driving conditions to quantify the mpg improvement more specifically? How did you determine the 10 degrees cooler? My temp guage is glued to just under 100° C under all driving conditions, all I hear is the fan cycling. Do you have Amsoil in the M6? I've heard various reports, pro and con, about synthetic in the Manual transmission and would be very interested in more feedback on synthetic in it. Also the diff. Do you have the Auburn? Synthetic in it?

I would never go 10K miles between oil changes, no matter what the manufactuere recommends.

I have inquired about this with other vehicles and I'm of the opinion that the manufacturer has the best interests of the company in mind when recommending fluids...they DO NOT want the vehicle back, particularly under warrantee! Thay also DO NOT own the aftermarket companies trying to reach into your wallet! They will be suggesting what works best with the equipment. I also agree with CHAB that oil changes should be done within the manufacturers recommendations. That way, there will be no questions if you DO have a problem you want fixed either before or after warrantee!

Red Line Oil says that, after your warranty is expired, their suggested period between changes is 12,000 to 15,000 miles, or one year, whichever comes first.
