Just Installed my SLP airlid and K&N filter last night. Driving to work today was awesome!!

I noticed a real difference! My 2000 get's RPM faster above 4K, sounds great, and I swear the rear tires were breaking loose a lot more.

Personally, I think the whisper lid is by far a superior flowing lid. That's what I have on my car. I have no scientific proof of course, I'm just going by my assometer.

I've heard the same thing about the LS1 Motorsports Direct Flo lid. I got my lid and filter new in the box, but "used". That's why I chose the SLP lid.

My experience is that the SLP lid is awesome! It made a huge difference on my car.

I think they are a lot alike. Personally, I'll stick with SLP stuff whenever possible. They do all the testing and are licensed where required.

They have great customer service and they they follow the laws that are made to protect the cost for developing products.

OBSSD saw quite a gain on the dyno with his SLP airlid. Page him and he'll post his results.

Yep. With the SLP Y-Pipe installed, we made 3 runs with the stock lid & filter followed by 6 runs with the SLP lid & dirty Holley filter.

It averaged 303HP/322TQ with the stock induction and 317HP/332TQ with the lid & filter.

Are you suggesting that Whisper, G2, Volant, K&N, etc. don't test their products? What license is required to sell an air induction lid? The only license you may need to test an air lid is a DRIVERS LICENSE.

Actually I know of no other company that has received as many complaints about customer service as SLP. Have you ever dealt with their shipping department? People complain all the time.

What laws, specifically, protect the cost of developing a product? Do you even know what you're talking about Dan?

No I have no idea what I am talking about. Why would I? Do you? If so, all the power to you, if not, I suggest you get some advise on what you sell and whose name is on them. I am talking about marketing and copying other products in general, not specific ones. I know that SLP has to get the OK from GM to sell parts. I know they have to pass federal and state laws. I know they spend a lot of money and time to do all those things. That makes me more comfortable. When we allow people and companies to just put any product on the market without proper testing to meet gov regs or safety, then we are opening ourselves up to many problems.

I have bought parts from SLP and always enjoyed great customer service. I also know two dealers that have nothing but good things to say about SLP and cooperation when there is a problem.

By the way. I think Deanna is great and Afterthoughts has been very good to me. I even have my car on their sight.

Not trying to start a fight with you Mark, but to be honest, I do have a problem with people that make their own products and sell them on these boards. They are not legally licensed, not covered if there are issues and not sold with the blessing of GM. I am a person who supports business in the US and the right to protect the names that make them a profit. The laws are there for a reason.

Usually I am quiet about them because I feel like people have to make their own choices and it is really not up to me to say anything. It is not my job and I am just a car enthusiast and not a lawyer. But sometimes there is just too much marketing going on. There are a few products and people that push them too far. I won't go into any, it's not worth it. I won't get into any specifics or any more about it.

I have some questionable items on my car and will more careful in the future. No one should be making things that have licensed companies brands on them and selling them at a profit. I am sure that some of the things on my car have unlicensed names on them. If I am sure which, I will remove them if they were bought.

Please don't get defensive. Feel free to respond with your opinion. I respect it greatly. I think your car is beautiful and I fully respect the pride you have in it. But don't send back some personal attack. I will just ignore it if you do. I will be happy to read any response that is an opinion and respect your right to express it.

The Amsoil Two Stage Filter does a much better job than the KN UNIT. Even though it is advertised as a two stage filter, it flows better and last longer between cleanups that any thing on the market.

Yeah, but that'd require buying one first I bought my Holley filter when I bought the lid back in September and plan on sticking with it for a while.

you must have the aftermarket SLP Performance Parts lid, not the OE SLP Engineering lid, right?

The paper Donaldson comes with the OE SLP lid.

Trust me, I know how that goes (I'm sure the peanut gallery will agree).

Yep...I don't think I had even heard of the OEM lid when I got mine. Not that it would have mattered since I have the base exhaust.

Thanks for posting your results! Those are impressive. I would not be surprised if my car is realizing similar gains - it sure feels that way.

I will dyno it agian soon. You can see my stock numbers in the sig. I have the SLP Y-pipe hanging on the garage wall, just waiting to be installed. Can't wait.

I plan to stick with the K&N for now. When it's dirty, maybe I'll try one of the other brands. May as well put the $11 bucks for a cleaing kit towards a new filter for fun . Or, maybe not - it seems to be doing a good job.
