I have a 99Z under warrenty till March 2002. I just noticed the trunk wearing down a small section of the top. You cant see it with the trunk closed. Pretty soon its gonna be a hole.
I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. Wouldnt that fall under warrenty? Apparently not. There seems to be a 1 year,12k mile "Adjustment" period for the doors, the hood, and the trunk. If in that period of time you notice the hood, trunk, or doors out of alignment they will fix it. Since the trunk was never re-aligned, they wont fix the top which was caused by the trunk rubbing.
That is a load of crap. What ever happened to bumper to bumper warrenty. I guess its my fault that GM didn't align the trunk lid properly and caused the top to rub.
Anybody else have a TOP problem the dealer wouldnt fix?

I have taken my car in twice for the top to be adjusted where it wasn't sealing at the rear of the driver/pass side windows. Both times were after 1 year of purchasing the car. Both times were warrantied no questions asked.
Not sure who your dealer is, but they are jerking you around (hey I call em like I see em). Even if the top/trunk fitment weren't warrantied (which it should be) they could perform a "good faith" repair to keep your business as a customer. How hard is it to adjust a trunk lid fer chrissakes ?
I'd say take it to another dealer and give them a try, or better yet do it yourself to avoid the headache.
Good luck, BadAss30th

I'm not too worried about the trunk lid. That should be easy enougb for me to adjust. What I want fixed is the hole in the top thats forming. I think a whole new top is needed. I dont think this dealer cares about my or anyones satifaction. I'll look for another dealer.
