It was brought up several times but it happened pretty sudden.
It's surprising but I am sure it's in their best interests when you look at the amount of time and energy that is devoted to the upkeep of the board. It's still sad to see it go...

As I've stated elsewhere, they did this once before and it turned out to be a big mistake. I think they're repeating history once again. I'm sad to see it go.

Oh well....guess it was destined to end. That board sure kept me loyal to SLP, though, when it came time to buy F-Body parts. Maybe it's time to start looking elsewhere.

Well, one less thing to worry about in our busy lives.
It's sad and unfortunate to see the board go without a halfway decent sendoff, like not being able to say goodbye to everyone.
Of course, you would THINK that they could have at least warned us the board was, indeed, going the way of the F-body.
It appears that there may be some restructuring going on to reduce costs, which, in this day and age, unfortunately is commonplace.
To all my SLP board brothers and sisters, it was a fun ride, and it screeched to a halt ~almost~ one year to the day after the last F-body rolled off the line.
Sad? Yes. Gonna die? No. TimeLord, you got us ALL kicked off the SLP board!! Posts: 577 | From: Aiken, SC | Registered: May 2002

Wonder if they still plan on having the SLP day in NJ? Maybe I'll think twice about buying from SLP. Such a sad day.

Before we jump to any conclusions and turn our backs on SLP, let's wait and see if Dave or someone who knows can tell us what went on. I believe that the entire board should at least be told the reason why, regardless of that reason, be it personal reasons (if it is, just say that and 'nuff said) or business-related. We all had a "home" there to talk about our cars. It will be missed, no doubt about it.
But luckily, we also have this board, so all is not lost. Imagine if we didn't have this one. I don't go to any other boards since they're a bit too chaotic to my liking. I'm here to stay, SSOA!

People, companies and relationships evolve over time. So much has changed, in the industry, and on the web, from the days when the SLP Message Board was about the only way someone could find out about the Firehawk, SS and Y2Y.
I will be forever grateful to SLP for what they added to the F-body community and will call the fine folks there, especially David and JeffY, my friends, for as long as they'll allow me.
The first SLP Engineering Customer Appreciation Event in Ann Arbor and Milan remains one of the finest memories I have. Frienships started that I treasure to this day.
Free from the responsibilities of moderating, I hope the David and JeffY will have more time to drop in here
Thanks SLP!!!

Well, not to squelch Chris' or Possum's opinions, because they make sense, but until someone from SLP says something it's all postulation and not fact. The F-car didn't sell is mainly why the F-car went away, among other reasons. GM told us that much.
I still think, as customers of the products, we're owed a little something rather than a locked door in the face. After all, it was the parts discussions that made me decide to buy more SLP parts which was $ they made directly related to that board being there.
I can come up with thousands of reasons too, that make sense, but since I'm not one of the in-the-know folks at SLP, my reasons may or may not hold water. It's ok if they don't give a reason, but it would be the decent thing to do, wouldn't you think? Imagine if you went to work and the doors were closed and they kept quiet. Wouldn't you at least think they could tell you WHY? Maybe in due time we'll know for sure.

I'd like to post my thanks to SLP also. They really lit a fire under me and made me thirsty for all the information I could cram into my head about my SS!!!! Our first SLP CAD in Vegas last October was the BEST and I still get excited thinking about that day! The SLP message board will be greatly missed and the friends that were made, I hope, find there way here!!
Thanks again SLP for adding to the excitement of my SS...Big Daddy!! Posts: 290 | From: Utah | Registered: Mar 2003

Well said. We owe a great deal to SLP for the SS, the Hawk, reviving the love of cars, the freindships that were made, and the ones that remain.

I got a heads up about this a few minutes before it happened.
All I can say is Dave didnt want to do the tearful goodbye thing.
As many of you know, Dave put an awful lot of time into the SLP boards over the years. It couldnt have been easy for him either.

I can only say that I am forever in debt to SLP and the message board. I have friends that I would never have and memories that would have never happened.
I am proud to have been part of it.
I wish Dave, Jeff and all of SLP nothing but the best. I hope that they find something that works for them.
They owe me nothing! In fact it is the other way around!
If there is ever ANYTHING I can do to help them, I will be first in line.

Call me crazy....SLP didn't HAVE to maintain a message board all these years...but the fact that they DID meant (in my mind at least) that they were giving something back to their customers. That fact always made me think of SLP first when it came time to look at upgrade parts....I could have purchased an airlid or an exhaust from a bunch of different outfits...but sent my $$$ to SLP 'cause somehow I felt "connected" to them through the message board. I guess what I was saying was that being "disconnected" levels the playing field.

Well, sure, it was great that they did what they did for the customers, and I have no gripes whatsoever about SLP and their products. Quality stuff, that's why I bought SLP rather than "the other guy's". Like I said, they don't have to give a reason, but it'd be a lot less mysterious if they did.
I didn't mean to come off sounding as harsh as my statements must've seemed earlier. I'm still stunned and in disbelief about the SLP shakeup. This is part of the "grieving" process, I suppose. Trying to understand the whys after the initial shock. I mean, we had a year's warning about the death of the F-body, and when the day came, it was still difficult to grasp that they were finally gone.
I'll continue to buy from SLP, they've earned their reputation and I support it. Thanks Dave, JeffY and all the Mods that made our little piece of SLP history happen.

Wow! That was a suprise, it's kinda like being layed off, but we don't get to go back to the office, collect our things and say our goodbyes. I'm sure there were good reasons.
I just want to say thank you to SLP, Dave, Jeff and everyone else that was involved and posted. I learned alot from the board about the new-fangled technology and got alot of answers to questions. Thanks for the SS mods to the car, extra mod parts and appreciation days.
The SLP board will be sorely missed along with the wealth of information that was available from the searches and answers from people who were always there and ready to help. Posts: 343 | From: Castle Rock, CO | Registered: Jun 2002

Sorry for SLP,they are in bad financial shape and have no choice,SLP Canada went bankrupt in May.
I heard some other things as well wehn I was at Carlisle. It's all starting to make sense after I hit my head a little bit ago. Kinda sucks to hear these things about a pretty SSweet company. Posts: 2651 | From: Enola (Harrisburg Area), Pennsylvania | Registered: Jan 2002
