This is actually on my wife's Grand Prix, but...the car started squealing really bad when I crank it. I took the belt off and turned all the pulleys, and the alternator pulley would make a squealing sound. I checked the voltage at the alternator and it is 14.3 or so volts, so that should be okay. Is this "squeal" an indicator or does the alternator need lubricated or something? How can I fix this?

What DaddySS said.....Just wanted to add though, don't let it go too long. The alternator in my old thirdgen caught on fire when the bearings went. Apparently got so hot it seized and caught fire. Coulda been ugly if I didn't have a fire extinguisher!
