Yes it will be going to the US Supremes and they will reverse this decision. Using the same arguments as before, You can't change the rules after the election. And the Florida Legislature will pick the winner, Bush. So Gore will loose no matter what, Give it up AL!

I don't see how any of you who love fast cars can support Gore. He wants to eliminate all gas engines. Gore is a flake! Can you imagine a solar-powered car tearing up the strip or NASCAR running at Daytona (not under the lights or on cloudy days)? You may not like Bush, but he won't take away things that you enjoy. Jerry.

...do you honestly believe that Gore can do this??? It just isn't going to happen folks...and even if he tried to institute any of his tree hugging ideas they're going to be tempered by Congress.
You know the thing that really kind of gets me upset about this whole issue...whenever I ask people why they voted for Bush, the answers are are predominitely selfish...i.e. ME ME ME...
He's going to give ME a tax break... He's going to let ME keep my guns... He's going to let ME keep my musclecar...
..pretty selfish reasons, if you ask ME...
Nothing about what kind of a leader he is or will be...nothing about how he'll address our domestic problems, nothing about how he'll handle world affairs...deal with terrorist activity...nothing about how he'll keep this country together for the next four years and keep us out of a major conflict...pretty much nothing about his credentials...because fact it people, he just doesn't have any. And by no means am I a Gore fan...I have a lot of grief with some of his ideas too...and I feel that I'm really not for him...I'm against Bush. Like I've said before I'd have voted in a heartbeat for McCain if he had been a candidate. You really have to look at the big picture and make your own determination as to who, over the next 4 years, has the best chance of not derailing the country or by his decisions (or lack of them) escalates turmoil in the world. Hey, I'm not going to change your feelings about this issue at this time, and you're not going to change mine...go with your conscience...you have to live with your decision.
...just please don't tell me that the only reason you voted for Bush is so you wouldn't lose your musclecar...

Jimbo, I used cars as an example because it may be the only item of interest to everyone on this board. There are, of course, many others. You, yourself, allude to tree hugging. If Gore had his way, drilling, mining, and lumbering would be sharply curtailed in the United States, resulting in much higher prices for petroleum, natural gas, and wood products. The point, however, is not whether the president could do this but why would we even want a person with these views holding the most important position in the world. Call me selfish, but I suspect you also look out for your own self interests. Jerry.

Well I am certainly not against anyone who has preservation of the environment as a priority and is for a responsible environmental policy...by the same token, I don't want someone who is an absolute fanatic about it either. Republicans typically align themselves with the NRA...while I am all for protection of citizens gun ownership rights, I consider the NRA as bordering on fanatic, as well as Greenpeace, the ACLU, PETA, and on and on ad nauseum. Anything that starts out as a good idea can quickly turn sour when people turn adamant about it and refuse to listen to opposing viewpoints or consider alternate solutions. That being said, as much as I don't really care for Gore, I don't find anything in his agenda or platform that I feel he could implement that would harm us. I can't make that same statement about Bush. Let's be real here...virtually nothing that either one of these yokels do over the next four years is going to really mean a hill of beans to us geezers here...it's our children and grandchildren that are going to really be affected by what ultmately falls out of this election. And that's where my priorities lie...
...like I said before...as far as I'm concerned at this point...throw a damn dart...

Hey Jeeyum, glad to hear your, "...for the children" Seems like I heard that somewhere before.
In order to take care of the (our) children we've GOT to take care of ourselves. It's kinda like putting on your oxygen mask first before the kiddo gets his at 38,000. We've GOT to set an example on doing the right thing. If people could take out the racism, class envy etc, it's EASY to see it and do it!
Doing the right thing is doin' it when KNOWONE else is watchin'
Liberals SHOUT louder than us Conservatives. Hell, we have to work. They do an excellent job in motivating their relatively small base and with the liberal media, they get noticed. ..kinda like Reverend Jackson and what he's been saying in the last two days. For no other reasons than that, I wouldn't be associated with a group of people on that side of the fence...he's a Liberal Democrat.
Come on over to our side Jeeyum. You can still surf and look forward to that celebrated Friday. You'd be good for the party. That big garage and that Hemi Dart will get a little closer too! Besides, it'll be nice to have someone from TEXAS in the repainted White House.

...well gee OG...let me see...how do I set an example for my children...by casting my vote for the liar...or the crook...
...on one hand...we could throw it to Mr. Vascillation...who I will have to agree changes persona with the wind...and whose nose would be as long as a fishng pier if his head were made of wood...
...and then we have the almighty Bush family...hey, you wanna know why they're against solar energy and solar power???
...I'll bet you'll guess it's because it would cut into their massive oil holding profits...
WRONG!!! It's because their family's background is so shady nothing solar powered would ever work for them...
...so enough for levity...you have your mind made up...and so do I. I don't feel I need to justify anything to you, and you surely don't need to justify anything to me. I'll be honest with you...virtually everyone I know who voted for bush in the lower to middle income bracket (some of my family included) did so primarily because of his promise to cut taxes...that's what seemed most important to them...and hey, who am I to judge what peoples priorities are or what they feel is most important to them. The Bush campaign did a hell of a good marketing job on that issue, for sure. For me...that was pure smoke and mirrors, and you I'm sure know that too...
...because there's one sure thing about growing old...we all end up needing glasses...so we can see better...
...hey dude...PEACE...I still respect ya...and you can still dream about that Lone Star flag flying above the Big House...that dream will probably come true...
...and I'll still keep dreamin'about that garage with that Hemi Dart...that dream, the good Lord willing, will probably come true...too...

Good mornin' Jeeyum...I always look forward to your reply. Actually, it sounded like a concession speech I'm glad it wasn't something like "Bush is an ass, Go Gore" I WAS a little troubled about the Solar Power comment but figuring where you live and what your passions are (beach, surfing, bringing your heiny out) the sun is extremely important to you.
I sincerely hope you gain just a little bidy bit of optimism in our leaders and the way they lead in the next few years cause, "...the Eyes of Texas are upon you".
Ain't it neat discussing issues and ideologies with someone with clean glasses. I don't pee like I used to and I don't jump off the back of a pickup truck any longer but I CAN see. In fact, I see a three, wait a minute, four car GOrage in your future and a Dart with a bumper sticker that says, "don't blame me, I voted for Nader AND Gore"
Now, if you'd just get those NRA dues in...

You guys are great!! This is point/counterpoint on the SSOA board. Great stuff!

AUSTIN, Tx (Dec. 4) - Attorneys for Texas Governor George W. Bush filed suit in federal court today, seeking to prevent Santa Claus from making his list and then checking it twice. The complaint seeks an immediate injunction against the beloved Christmas icon, asking the court to effectively ban his traditional practice of checking the list of good boys and girls one additional time before packing his sleigh.
The suit, filed in the Federal District Court of Austin, Texas, asks a federal judge to "hereby order Mr. Claus to cease and desist all repetitive and duplicative list-checking activity, and certify the original list as submitted, without amendment, alteration, deletion, or other unnecessary modification."
"There are no standards for deciding who is naughty, and who is nice. It's totally arbitrary and capricious. How many more times does he need to check? This checking, checking, and re-checking over and over again must stop now," said former Secretary James Baker. Baker further claimed that unnamed GOP observers witnessed an elf remove all boys named Justin from the 'nice' list, filing them under 'naughty' instead because "everyone knows all boys named Justin are brats."
Gov. Bush cited the potential for unauthorized list tampering, and blasted what he called the "crazy, crazy mess up there at the North Pole.
Their security is really awful, really bad," said Bush. "My mother just walked right in, told 'em she was Mrs. Claus. They didn't check her ID or nothing."
Meanwhile, Dick Cheney, Gov. Bush's running mate, issued a direct plea to St. Nick himself. "Mr. Claus, I call on you to do the honorable thing, and quit checking your list. The children of the world have had enough.
They demand closure now," Cheney said, adding that his granddaughter has already selected a name for the pony she's asked for.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson was quick to respond to this latest development with plans to lead his protesters from Florida to the North Pole via dogsled. The "Million Man Mush" is scheduled to leave Friday.
"We need red suits and sleighs, not law suits and delays," Jackson said.
Santa Claus could not be reached for comment, but a spokeself said he was "deeply distressed" by news of the pending legal action against him. "He's losing weight, and he hasn't said 'Ho Ho' for days," said the spokeself. "He's just not feeling jolly."

IN THE MATTER OF BUSH V. KRINGLE

After the initial count, a mandatory RE-count, and, after lengthy whines and tantrums, a couple of ADDITIONAL recounts, it has been determined that little Al Gore was INDEED naughty as charged, and has been scheduled to receive the customary lump of coal.
Santa maintained in his own defense, that if Al had just used all that whining time in "doing the right thing" there MIGHT have been time for corrective action, but since that time was squandered in temper tantrums and belligerant, deceptive rants, there wasn't enough time left before the arrival of Christmas to take further action. Chris admonished "Time is golden, use it wisely and intelligently". He also pointed out that honesty and integrity go a long way in helping avoid these situations...
