Never sell the first(67) and last(2002) of a breed of cars that were much more than just automobiles. Nay, Nada, Niente, No. When they reintroduce the car it just won't be the same... but we'll see!

I'm assuming we'll have our 4th Gens as long as possible. Unfortunately, the 2nd gen will probably have to go one of these days (as much as I like that car, I'm too short to drive it) to make room for future acquisitions (a Corvette would be one of them).

no way,,, I wanted an F-body since Nightriger came out (I was like 8 or so so I was young and impressionable) ...then my dad's company car being an 82 Camaro ... that was it ... That was my car I would have and the driving reason I completed college ... soon as I graduated and landed a job... I ordered the hawk (got a hawk over the SS because I could get GM employee pricing on it ) Now As I sit back and reflect that I could have bought a reasonable car so I can save $$$ for a house and be finanicially secure.. I still cannot put a price on a 20 year dream that came true... The hawk represents 20 yearsa of dreams to me, so I easliy delayed buying a house so I can get one of the new last-year F-bodies . you cannot put a price on happiness.
I have many smiles whenI drive the car and have many memories... I am expecting many more to come as well

Simple fix. Pedal Extenders Now you can't use that excuse to have to ever get rid of any Camaro.

#4452 has a long term home with me, I knew it the first time I laid eyes on her (incidentally it was the day after a 14" snow storm)
I have SERIOUSLY regretted selling my '92 convertible since the day I sold it. It has been almost two years now, and I still have a pain in my gut over it.
These cars do something to me. I feel I am priveledged, in that I learned how to drive on an fbody, my first car was an LG4 '86 Trans Am with t-tops and a 5speed. Always imagined that I would ALWAYS own one, but it seems the General had different ideas. So just have to keep the SS alive as long as I can.

WOW we had some really great responses. Amazing how these cars create stories and friendships. I think DanA said it best, he never owned a car where other owners openly opened their homes to invite them in. Which is true.
my 97 SS is my 2nd 4th Gen. I traded my 95Z28 for this car and I was glad i did. I met more people and have more stories because of it.
Even though I like Mustangs (I never owned one) I like the rivalry it brings. And I am hoping GM has something in the works to compete against the new 2005 300hp Mustang GT.
But above all that. I think we can all say that when you see a fellow Camaro, or Firebird that is all decked out you just gotta give a wave.
My heart still races when I spot a Firehawk or a Camaro SS or an Ultra Z/WS6 type car.
Anyway...Lets keep these cars alive and strong. I am hoping one day to be able to park a Firehawk or another Camaro SS next to my present car (this time with LS1 power!)
Peace, and be safe out there.

I recently sold 1996 SS (car # 439) to my Brother-in-Law and negotiated visitation rights. Would not have sold this fantastic car except that it really isn't a practical winter car. So now I get to visit her in the Summer and will be buying a new Pontiac GTO to get that Chevy Small Block feeling back in my life on a daily basis.
I will own a 4th gen again though....no doubt in my mind about that.

Yes I have thought about it a lot lately. I keep seeing the new Acura TL, love that car, then I think I'd miss the power of the Hawk. To tell ya the truth, I doubt I will have the Hawk much longer, maybe a year or so. I have 2 payments left on it, after that who knows, if I can get the right price for it, it'll be gone. Dont get me wrong, I love the car but right now it's just sitting in a garage for the past few months. One of the other reasons I kinda dont want to get rid of the Hawk is because of all the people I've met because of it and all the great gatherings, ie-Skyline. You guys will let me in with a Vette, right?

Don't want to sell, but I might if the right price comes along. I will still have my Iroc, but it just isn't practical for me to own 2 camaros right now. I will definitely add a 4th gen to the stable in the future, unless a spectacular LS2 powered 5th gen comes out that catches my eye.

I'm getting buried in my Z7D...already told the family that.....(well, maybe....)
The Funeral Director at the funeral home in Mars bought a 35th Anniversary Camaro Convert....loves it by the way....and I've told him he can't sell it because I want him to lead my funeral procession in it.
Interesting: My father is buried in the Mars Cemetery....top of the highest hill overlooking Mars.....and I go there when I'm in Mars to "visit"...was walking around about three years ago and LO and BEHOLD...there's a young man buried about 10 stones away...with a 1967 Camaro Etched in his gravestone.......never one to be outdone, I'm trying to figure out how to get EVERY year of Camaro etched on my stone.....and being that I plan on being around for a longgggg time ...and knowing that the car isn't gone forever, it may be a VERY LARGE STONE....

Yes I have, and in all probability I will sell it in the next year or two to buy a ’70 or ’71 Cuda 440+6 or a ’73 TA SD455 or a C6 Vette, but I will still keep my ’91 Formula. For some reason, my ’91 holds a much dearer spot in my heart than does the ‘02. As nice as the Hawk is, it’s stock (and will stay that way) and is pretty much just like thousands of other 4th gen Hawks out there. The ’91 however is pretty much a 3rd gen Firehawk without the markings or the official number. It has a mean lopey idle, gobs of torque, reminds me of my old big block MoPar musclecars, and has that scrappy street fighter feel to it, not to mention the sleeper aspect…it’s pretty much unrefined. If I didn’t have the Formula, I would in all probability hold on to the Hawk (as I would if I could ever pick those right 6 numbers), but there are just too many other toys out there I would like to have. Still, I really enjoy cruising in the Hawk…loved cruising up to Englishtown back in ’02 and to Skyline in ’03 at 80 mph with the A/C on and tunes in the changer playing through the Monsoon and getting 29+ mpg, love the looks of the car, the feel of the car and the looks I get when I drive the car. And the great part is that I still have another year or two to enjoy it while thinking of my next dream car…

In 1973 I was all set to buy a red Z/28, I was 17 and needed my dad to cosign. Everything was going great and dad was ready to sign the papers when he looked at the salesman, who was a neighbor and good friend of his and asked,HOW MUCH WILL INSURANCE COST FOR THIS CAR? That was the end of that.It took almost 30 years to finally own my SOM SS,There's not enough money in the world to buy her!

The first true "ride" in a muscle car I can remember, was riding in a friends 69 metallic blue Z28 way back in high school. When I grew up, and made a little money, I purchased a lemans blue 69 and loved that car till the 30th anniversary SS came out. I never had been intrigued by the fourth gens. until SLP reintroduced the SS. I tried to keep both, but between insurance and my wife wanting her garage space back, the 69 was sold. I 'll have another 69 one day, and needless the say the 30th will not likely be sold (never say never). I love this car

We have typically kept our cars for 6-7 years and rack up about 160,000+ kms on them before they go.
The current two are different though. We have had the Vette (C4) for 9 years and it is not leaving us anytime soon. Alice loves that car and it may very well be her last car.
My Firebird is now almost 6 years old and has 171,000 kms on it. I will have this car for as long as I can keep it on the road, and that will be for a long time to come. It will only go when it completely falls apart.
However, WHEN the F5 come out.....all bets are off. Posts: 383 | From: Oakville, Ontario Canada | Registered: Jan 2003
